The quality isn't excellent, but you can see a lot.
How the game works iin short:
You begin in a phase called Tidepool where you eat various food things, you then reproduce and with each offspring you shall be able to evolve your creature further. Growing larger and larger in the tidepool phase until you top the foodchain within t a drop of water. Then your creature appears in the water as a multicellular simple creature. This phase is similar, except much more elaborate; you begin in the editor and there you design what your creature will look like. You eat food, mate, and then your offspring can evolve further. This is the evolution phase.
The designs for the creatures that populate the game world are the designs that fit the planet's type of ecosystem, designed by other players across the board using the editor. In this way, the game is online and utilizes information from many different players, but at the same time there is no simutaneous multiplayer play. It is similar to the Sims, how you can download other peoples houses and insert them into your neighbourhood, only with Spore it is done automatically.
Once the creature reaches a certain level they will enter the tribal phase, and here it is about developing the central hut and designing tools and culture which will eventually lead up to the development of a city. The City phase is like a simplified Sim City , and eventually you'll be able to trade with other cities, and in time, have the ability to conquer them. So through diplomacy and military you can conquer the entire world.
It does not end there, space can be conquered too, and the galaxy willbe populated by other planets downloaded from many players across the globe, so in this way, the culture that develops upon your own world will be a part of many other different peoples galaxies within the single player game. The space game is about populating and designing a number of other planets, so far the extent of it has not been quite described. Interstellar war and diplomacy is possible, that much is known.
Overall, I see this game as very likely being the best game ever created (in my opinion). I do think that it will take the world by storm, becoming more successful than the Sims. I have more to say later, but I am tired as hell right now and can barely think strait =)
