It should be an interesting fight. At the PPV last night Silva came out wearing a Pride shirt and it seems that the fight is set. I don't see how Liddel has much of a chance against Silva, Silva is just a much more rounded fighter. Chuck also has to defeat Babalu, which might be difficult, Babalu has the tools to take out Chuck.

Also, Tim Sylvia, who won by decision claims he could defeat Fedor, and that he has never seen Fedor take down a tall striker before. Semmy Schilt is a much better striker than Sylvia, and also taller, and Fedor defeated him. Fedor also took out Zulu, who was like twice his size: Fedor took him out in 26 seconds with a series of punches that completely dismantled him. I would not expect Sylvia to survive more than two and a half minutes against Fedor; I would be surprised if he did: Randleman, Coleman, and Goodridge all couldn't.

Heath Herring. Although maybe 6'4" doesn't count as "tall" to him. Regardless, Fedor would destroy him.

And Silva will destory Liddel. Although it sets a good precedent for the best lightheavy of Pride to fight the best lightheavy of the UFC.

Excellent fight. I looked up his record, and Babalu went on to a unanimus decision victory over Jeremy Horn that same night. He was in nine rounds (eight full) in one night. Jeee-sus.

Babalu is good, no doubt, but Chuck easily dispatched him last time, and he's only gotten better since.

It seemed more like a lucky kick considering it hit Babalu in the mouth (which I do not think Chuck has ever done before, and might not ever do again). Then again, it's difficult to say, a lot of Chuck's KO's seem like luck, such as Randy/Chuck II, but then Chuck showed in the third fight that it wasn't luck; then again, some say that Randy just wasn't the same fighter as he was in the first fight.

I do think that Babalu has improved signifcantly against strikers since his fight with Liddell, most notably evidence comes with his fight against Shogun. Babalu completely neutralized Shogun throughout the entire fight; there is nothing that Chuck has that Shogun doesn't. Both have great take down defense, both are extremely hard strikers. Shogun is better on the ground.

In August we'll see if Chuck's kick, five years ago, was lucky or not. I think Babalu has a really good chance at taking the belt off of Chuck. Though I do REALLY want to see that fight with Silva.

On to Chuck vs. Silva: Chuck has fought in interpromotional matches with Pride before, this one against Rampage a couple of years ago:

Good fight.

I've seen those, and they are good fights, but Chuck was coming off his loss to Couture. This is the first time we'll see the title holder from the UFC face his counterpart in Pride. It makes good sense, but I'm a little surprised Dana White is letting it happen. I think Pride's fighters are better, and I figured he wouldn't want to let a UFC champ lose.

But they should be good fights.

Especially since Silva absolutely demolished Rampage twice fairly quickly; Shogun did too.

I think Chuck vs. Silva will last until 4 minutes in round 1, or 2 minutes, 30 seconds in round 2.
