Hey, now, i would buy Braid, Castle Crashers, Poker Smash, Penny Arcade, Rez HD, Ikaruga HD, SSF2THDR, and many other XBLA games if they dropped to 400 points. That's a fine price for a good, solid 5 hour game.

Speaking of fools, any of ya'll who don't buy the Namco Museum Virtual Arcade disc for it's recently discounted price of $20 are fools. There are 9 XBLA games (everything Namco's ever released on the service) and another 25+ other old games on there. Once the Sega Genesis collection drops to that price in the next couple of months, that's also a no-brainer. It's an awesome collection.

And I bought BC:RA for 800 points (cost me about $6) back when it was first released.

I can't think of any of Namco's XBLA releases that I'd be interested in aside from Pac Man CE which I already have.

As I mentioned before...the best under-$10 title I've played in the last year is Dishwasher: Dead Samurai for XBLA (technically, XBLCC).

800 MSP, on the Community games section. It plays like Alien Hominid meets Devil May Cry and the style is very much reminiscent of early Jhonen Vasquez.

If for no other reason than for you guys to see the near future of auteur gaming, you all should check it out.

Galaga Legions is awesome. And the arcade-perfect ports of Pac Man, Ms Pac Man, New Rally X, Dig Dug, and Xevious are fun for a weekend. That's not to mention the other 25+ older games already on there. So if you're paying $20 for all of them and they're on a disc which has resale value, it's a very cheap purchase for so many titles

some game called battleforge is free now. It's some MMOCCG or something. From my understanding it still requires your moneys if you want more cards or something. Check it out?

I demoed it on Steam the other week... it was kinda fun but I didn't understand the advanced mechanics. It is a RTS DoW style where you run around and collect / defend resource points, and you summon units/spells/buildings with your cards. They've got the whole green vs red vs blue vs etc thing going too. Interestingly enough it's still $30 on Steam...

Steam's weekend deals are a little more extensive this week. UT3 is free all weekend, and you can buy it, or a pack of Unreal Tournament games for 1/2 price. There are two racing games that are down 85%, and Flock is 50% off.

Penumbra black plague and penumbra overture are on sale for a collective price of $5. The trailer looks cool so I'm going to dive in on this one. There is a specials tab in steam now for those who don't like listening to me jabbering on about games on that service that have been discounted.

I'm pretty bitter about this deal... on FRIDAY I went out and got a RB2 guitar for $70 and now Gamestop is offering the ENTIRE SET for $95 (50% off). Freakin spring cleaning.

Basically every RB / Guitar Hero bundle currently being sold is heavily discounted and free shipping. One of the best deals I've seen from Gamestop...

Very tempting... but I got enough games to play right now :\

I FINALLY got my arcade stick from EB Games here. Seems like they're still actually manufacturing them and getting them out to stores, at least to cover pre-orders.

If there was any inanimate object you'd want to make love to, this is it. It's fucking amazing. It's actually made of genuine arcade parts and feels like it. Expensive as hell, though. It's $190 Cdn which is more than a PSP and almost as much as a DSi or Xbox Arcade.

Eric wrote:What'd you get it for Zeus? I didn't even know you played SFIV.
I've played SF since the original one (NOT #2) in the arcade. I've always liked the franchise, I'm just not crazy over it like some people are.

I also have it for the 360 and not the PS3 since when I pre-paid for the game, I didn't have a PS3 at the time. That's one of the reasons for that stick, it's basically required for the 360 version. The 360 controller SUCKS ASS for that game. As cheap as Seth is, you can't use the 360 controller to play against him, it's fucking impossible.

Also, as a collector, that stick will do nothing but go up in price. So not only is it awesome to use, it's a real collector's item. Just like that huge 15th Anniversary one I got about 4 years ago. That thing is already worth more than double what I paid for it

Just got Magic: The Gathering (XBLA) for $10. Pretty fun game once you get used to the controls (and strict interpretation of the rules), and it features Co-Op Campaign mode (2 vs 2).

Crystal Defenders (XBLA, $10) is also pretty fun. It's a tower defense game, essentially. Only drawback is that you can't undo or go back to a certain point like you could in Defense Grid. However, once I realized that I'm not supposed to try to make the perfect defense in one go, I started to enjoy it more. They also feature "DevPlay", which shows a perfect build for the first 15 rounds, after you've gone that far with a level. That kinda makes up for the lack of save points.

The deal of the week on XBLA is Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. It's 800 microsoft patented dollars instead of the previous price of 1200. Does this appeal to you? Do you already own it? Should you just get that magic:the gathering game like sine and I did and feel all dirty and 12 years old all over again? The choice is yours.

You know, I would be tempted here, but after paying for both real (back in the day) and virtual (in Magic Online for the PC) Magic cards for fifteen years, I'm getting burned out on this. Are the card packs in Microsoft points or something? Christ, that's a lucrative racket if so.

PostPosted:Mon Jun 22, 2009 11:39 pm

Actually, no. That was one of the things I was worried about. There are no "downloadable" cards, but I think it's more like a bunch of fixed decks. You do earn bonus cards for your deck as you progress along, and you can add/remove cards, so it's not like it's the exact deck every time. They do give you even multi-colored decks, so it won't get boring for a while.

We play a few of the co-op games and that was fun.

FREE ALERT

You like free, right? I know, browser based games are usually crap, but that Quake 3 was pretty cool (I totally didn't play the in-browser version). Well, now Battlefield:Heroes is officially out now! Go play it!

I was in the beta, but it was kind of crap when I was in it. Maybe things have changed and it's awesome now. Maybe us shriners must band together and cut down swaths of enemies in it. Maybe we should just ignore it entirely. Do as you please.

Killzone 2 and MGS4 bundled with the PS3 this Sunday. Is it still a bajillion dollars? Yes. However, this is a pretty nice bundle. You get a really long series of cutscenes with crap multiplayer. The other is a very uninspired single player campaign with a pretty cool multiplayer experience. Put them together and you've almost got an entirely good game!

Seriously though, if you were looking for a good bundle, this is a pretty saweet one.

LINK!

oh, and it's at the best buy. It has the greatest of purchases there. The most quality of expenditures.

These games are on sale on PSN right now. Apparently they're on sale until next thursday, so if you see anything you like, you should pick it up.

* WipEout HD (was $19.99, now $14.99!)
* Flock! (was $14.99, now $7.49!)
* Savage Moon (was $9.99, now $4.99!)
* Crash Commando (was $9.99, $4.99!)
* PixelJunk Eden (was $9.99, now $4.99!)
* Brain Challenge (was $9.99, now $4.99!)
* 3 on 3 NHL Arcade (was $9.99, now $4.99!)

(copied from the playstation blog)

I can tell you that WipEout HD is amazing and I enjoy Pixeljunk Eden as well. I think I'll be picking up Savage Moon since it is so cheap. If anyone has played any of the other titles, I'd like to hear if they are any good.

Wipeout HD's expansion "Fury" came out last week and is amazing, for those who missed it.

This week is MvC2 AND Fat Princess. This has been a very high quality DLC summer.

And lastly the Fortunes pack for Farcry 2 is 1/2 price on XBL this week. It's down to 400 points for 3 new weapons, 2 vehicles, and some multiplayer maps (multiplayer could be more fun). It might be worth it for that price on the basis that one of those weapons is a silenced shotgun.
