AMCs Mad Men about ad men, centering on Don Draper? Or the Canadian rewrite about angry men? :D

Oooooh.... AMC's Mad Men...

This one is about lumberjacks hanging out in a Tim Hortons, watching hockey and drinking maple syrup... angrily.

Netflix on Thursday said it expects to end the quarter with 24 million customers -- down from the 25.6 million global subscribers Netflix had on June 30.

After this initial drop they'll probably go right back to growing again. DS9 in October will bring them, what, an additional four million?

So they dropped more people than they thought they would with the price hike, good, i dropped. But, i also agree that they have the cash to weather this storm pretty easily and in the future they will grow like crazy on the terms that they want. Its a win in the long run for Netflix, this company isnt going away anytime soon, and i'll probably end up joining again at some point.

Just a joke. I've actually put off finishing TNG (about 18 episodes to finish) until they get DS9 up because I want to watch that next. It sounds more interesting than Voyager, which I also want to watch. Enterprise is only an option if I actually want more Star Trek by the time I'm done with Voyager. If not I'll probably just go rewatch the seventeen seasons worth of Stargate television that exists now.

Without knowing how much it costs to license this stuff, it's really hard to say if raising the price was greedy or needed. It does look like competition in this field is pretty steep, so I'd assume the content owner wields considerable power here.

Around $39 million for Mad Men alone for what I believe I remember reading two years. I'm guessing with rising costs involved with expansion, it's needed.

NPR was actually talking about this today. Apparently they lost 1 million people from the price hike, but you have to remember they have about 24 million subscribers. Some now paying double.

I still think people just like to bitch too much. Hell I can grab any torrent I want but with Netflix I've actually begun to behave.

The apology e-mail is a fairly classy touch... Qwikster sounds stupid as hell though.

Qwikster is a weird choice. Why not "Mailflix"? Maybe they're worried about that -flix suffix being attached to a sinking ship.

The apology video is patronizing. He is apologizing for not communicating? Its like saying, sorry youre too stupid to see what we are trying to do here.

I'm totally down for a video game renting service even though I haven't gone for any of the specific services offered by other companies in the past. I regret most purchases I make for my 360 since the games I like for it tend not to have much replay value.

Didn't bother with the video.

Finished TNG tonight and was going to move on to DS9 immediately but just noticed The Walking Dead is up now. Brief interlude for zombies.

You are lacking mental capacity for not watching the million hours long episodes of McMillan and Wife. They are the greatest crimefighting team that there ever was.

Now that's fucking bullshit. Really, the IP owners of Sliders wanna leave 2 eps as "DVD only" to try to make you buy them, 8 years after the final push on DVD died out? Morons...

Watched the first episode of DS9... other than a few TERRIBLE actors that don't appear to have major roles it looks like a series I could enjoy.

At least get through the first season (maybe the first two). The show wasn't very good at first, but it got way better.

Yeah shows like this tend to need some time to pick up.. I'll give it a chance. None of the characters are particularly gripping for me yet, though.

Peep Show is now on Netflix. The following isn't an exaggeration. You need to watch this show because it is the best comedy that is currently being produced.
