Well, it is official that Cro Cop has signed the largest contract in UFC history, the exact figures have not been revealed but what is known is that he will be getting paid more than any other UFC fighter in the history of the company. The contract is a six fight contract.

Both Rampage and Cro Cop will debut in February making the card perhaps the most talent packed card in UFC history.

UFC 66 happened tonight and there was an awesome upset, Keith Jardine scored a technical knock out over Forrest Griffin in the first round with only 30 seconds left. Jardine had lost a very controvercial decision during the summer against Stephan Bonnar, most felt that Jardine took that fight. Jardine in the post fight interview said that Bonnar was the tougher fight. It will be interesting to see where he goes from here since I do think that they just expected Forrest to go through him in order to put him up as a contender. Personally I feel that Jardine will see Bonnar again in a rematch, and after that perhaps a fight against Rashad or Bisping, then Babalu or Tito if he wins those; though I would like to see him go up against Tito or Babalu in his next fight.

On the midcard Andrei Arlovski took out a no name in the first round. Jason Macdonald defeated Chris Leben by submission; Jason Macdonald first became recognized for his upset victory over Ed Herman earlier in the fall. The main event had Chuck Liddell TKO Tito in the 3rd round; though Tito did fairly good, if it had gone to a 5 round decision, Tito might have actually won; Tito definately took the second round.

Tonight Fedor vs. Mark Hunt (the guy who defeated Cro Cop a short while back); Fedor will win. The interesting fight will be Nog vs. Barnett, Nog has to prove that his fight against Barnett last time was just a fluke, if he can win this convincingly, then he will have proven that.

EDIT:
Shockwave,
I only saw the two main fights of PRIDE Shockwave which just occured (Japanese time). Fedor beat the hell out of Hunt and then submitted him. Nog also dominated Barnett all the way through (looks like it was just a bad night before when he lost the split decision). It was a very convincing victory, I feel this does place him still as #2 since he has yet to be convincingly defeated by anyone except Fedor, and he has fought EVERYONE.

I read the opinions of Shockwave on Sherdog.com and it seems that overall it was a spectacular PPV, anyone who is not saying best MMA event of all time are listing it as clearly the best of 2006.

Some other interesting results are: Akihiri won a split decision over Yuki Kondo; Shogun won a decision over Nakamura; Fujita KO'd a 2 time Olympic Wrestling champion (96/00); James Thompson (a Brit) won an upset victory over Yoshida by TKO.

I won't be able to catch it on PPV tonight, but with the rave reviews it has been getting, a DVD purchase will be in the future if I can't find all the fights online. There were some PRIDE Bushido brand fights mixed in there as well, those are always entertaining.

Gomi vs. Ishida (would love to see Gomi vs. GSP someday) http://www.dailymotion.com/visited/sear ... da-vs-gomi

Fedor vs. Hunt (Fedor originally was not planning to fight this due to a broken bone in his foot) http://www.dailymotion.com/visited/sear ... or-vs-hunt

Forrest Griffin vs. Jardine (this is actually quite an entertaining fight) http://www.dailymotion.com/visited/sear ... ithjardine

James Thompson vs. Yoshida (This one is brutal! Both guys were on their backs at the end) http://www.dailymotion.com/visited/sear ... idehiko-yo

I think it will be GSP vs. Hughes 3, which is almost a guaranteed good fight.

Anyways, here is another fight from the PRIDE event yesterday. This is one crazy submission hold; he practically killed him with it too =P

BRUTAL finish! in Tamura vs. Moinowa http://www.dailymotion.com/visited/sear ... ra-kiyoshi

Wanderlei vs. Hendo should be an absolutely amazing fight, both are great fighters and put on extremely entertaining matches. I seriously do not know who I should be cheering for, I like both fighters.

Kharitonov vs. Yvel, well, Yvel is perhaps the biggest piece of crap currently in a major organization, he fights dirty (biting, eye gouging) but worst of all, he KO'd a referee because he didn't like a call. I am also a huge fan of Kharitonov, or at least was a huge fan a few years ago when he was on a roll (he looked unstoppable). So obviously I am going for Kharitonov in this fight.

Gomi vs Nick Diaz, I am sure most people here know Nick Diaz from UFC, he is well known for considering himself undefeated even though he has lost to the judges; he whines a lot, and doesn't like UFC rules. Well, he is well known in the US, and PRIDE obviously hired him for that reason, they hired him to be demolished by Gomi, and Gomi will put Nick Diaz out very very quickly.

Hayato Sakurai vs. Danzig, this should be a very good fight, I expect Sakurai to win though; though I do think it could go either way. Danzig had quite an impressive 12 win streak, so we'll see.

Misaki vs. Trigg, Misaki will win this fight, but I don't want to count Trigg out yet, just mainly because I have been a fan, but after what I saw Matt Hughes and GSP do to him, it is difficult to say that he has a chance against Misaki. Misaki is phenominal, and I expect him to put Trigg out in under 6 minutes.

Nakamura's fight is the only one I am dissapointed with, Travis Wiuff has a nice record at 42-9, but has anyone ever heard of him before? He is just a generic MMA fighter out of a gym somewhere, that is why.

UFC 68 coming up the same month (next month) also has some very interesting matchups. So far announced:

Randy Couture making his comeback against Dim Sylvia. Rich Franklin against up and comer Jason Macdonald. And Babalu vs. Jason Lambert (I don't know a lot about Lambert except his name, I expect Babalu to trounce him). Very very very happy to see Babalu and Randy Couture back in the cage.

One more update, Cro Cop expects to be UFC champion and wants to face Fedor (PRIDE champion) at the NYE event in Japan; and he wants to do it as the UFC champion; feels that will be the biggest fight in history.

This is an absolutely ingenious idea, I would LOVE to see this. I think everyone who is into MMA will want to tune into this one.
