The Other Worlds Shrine

Your place for discussion about RPGs, gaming, music, movies, anime, computers, sports, and any other stuff we care to talk about...

 • Well, I just left a MB I hung out for at least 5-6 months...

 • Somehow, we still tolerate each other. Eventually this will be the only forum left.

Just to make my job easier, I'm going to post the contents of a letter I sent to a friend of mine:

Fuck it. I shouldn't have to go to such lengths to try to get the admins to give me a fucking answer. They can suspend my ass for eternity for all I care. I'm leaving StaticFlow.

In case you didn't hear the story, I had been suspended for a day from the board. Being suspended in and of itself doesn't bug me. What really annoys me is the lack of response from the admins, who don't care to tell me WHY I've been suspended.

I've tried e-mailing both Wes and Morph, posted a couple of messages on the board with temp accounts. (BTW, those temp accounts get deleted within 30 seconds of their creation, so I had to save the related pages, edit the forms, etc. to get a message in fast enough.) The second message got deleted, but I'll post what I said in a minute. (If nothing else, I think it's something to be put on public record.) Eventually, one of them turns off new user creation, and locks me out of that direction.

I could try other methods to get my message across, but there's no point if they aren't going to listen. I think spamming their e-mail addresses with 30 "Forgot Your Password" e-mails is far enough. Oh, and here's the content of that second message:

----------------
How nice that Morph talks about there being ways of contacting the admins about this, but I send out an e-mail (which, btw, I can't confirm because looking at e-mail addresses don't apply to guest users). And yet, Wes and Morph seem to be at this forum, happily deleting my aliases, in an attempt get an answer (which I should have received BEFORE I was suspended), BUT NOT attempting to contact me and giving me a fucking answer to my question. I receive no warning or anything on this, which is mainly what I'm pissed about.

BTW, my e-mail is SineSwiper@ResonatorSoft.org, so feel free to e-mail ME. If you aren't going to e-mail me, I'll have to employ more forceful methods to get some sort of answer.

I'm a fair person, and if the suspension is justified, fine, I'll sit it out. The only reason I'm not simply waiting until after the period is that I never received any reason on why I am suspended for a day. Not even inferred, as I don't remember posting anything super-offensive yesterday. I have questioned the ethics of the administrators' practices, and I am doing so now.

Again, the e-mail is SineSwiper@ResonatorSoft.org. My ICQ #207475, AIM/Yahoo=SineSwiper, MSN=SineSwiper@Hotmail.com. I'd expect some sort of answer soon, especially since I know you guys are out here posting.

Oh, and this is not a "Hi, I'm WipeoutFusion, who got banned for a good reason, and I'm going to pout for a while until I say that I'm going leave forever, only to come back a week later under a different alias" move. The administrators pissed me off for the last time, and a boycott (or whatever you want to call it) is not going to have any weight if I'm going to come back later on. I'm sure not too many people will care anyway, which is why I'd at least tell you two. It's a damn shame, because I had some thoughtful posts on that board, but oh well...

Now to relate to similar experiences on this MB (on the other end, of course), I have not ban/grounded anybody without reason, and not without giving a couple of fair warnings on the matter. And yes, I'll admit that I didn't handle the WolfSamurai situation as tactfully as I could have been.

However, this has made me consider a few improvements to the way banning works on RPGBoard:

Add a suspension feature (with a time limit)
Include a reason for the ban/suspension (to be display to the banned user)
Ability to ban only usernames or IP addy or both
Ability to turn off new user registration

Anyway, I don't like leaving the place, but perhaps it will give me more time with working on this place. I just wish we had the population here that we had a few years ago.

And I curse about as much as I do here, which is fairly normal. Like I said, I've been to that place for that past 5-6 months, so it's not like they aren't used to me cussing like a sailor. (Hell, there's a few sailors over there, anyway.)

Worse part is that I've got a few coworkers over there, including the main admin, so I've got to deal with him, saying "No, sorry, I don't care what it's about and I'm not coming to your MB anymore." Of course, I'll get along with him fine on RL, but the MB is now off-limits for me.
