What was the last amazing album you bought?

Not just okay, not just solid, but an album that had depth musically, lyrically and you kept coming back to it. The sort of album that you will listen to in ten years, and still appreciate as much as you did when you first got it.

My last was Tool's <a href="http://www.amazon.com/10-000-Days-Tool/ ... -1">10,000 Days</a>. Per Tool, there were some throw-away experimental songs, but even without those, you're left with over half an hour of inspired, heavy, deep music.

Both the Go! Team's Thunder, Lightning, Strike album and the Mars Volta's Deloused in the Comatorium are both amazing albums from start to finish. I'm going to have to lean more toward the Mars Volta though, but don't think that the Go! Team's album is a slouch in any way.

I actually have De-Loused in the Comatorium, and I thought parts of it were excellent, but as a whole, it didn't have much lasting power for me. I guess I spent a lot of time <i>appreciating</i> it as opposed to <i>enjoying</i> it. I didn't get the sense of satisfaction out of it that I wanted.

What is Go! Team like?

hard to explain..... some songs sound like they're ripped straight out of an old Peanuts tv episode, some of them sound like british hiphop, and others sound like they were the theme song to old 70s and 80s police shows (hawaii 5-0, magnum PI and the like). I was pretty amazed when the trailer for Little Big World came out, because it featured a Go! Team song... I'll provide some links for your viewing and listening pleasure.

It may be this indie hip-hop album I bought at a little shop in L.A. The group is called "Far East Movement", the album is "Folk Music"; it's a bunch of Asian guys from L.A.

They have *crazy* flows, and good beats. I think (I hope anyway) it's only a matter of time before these guys blow up like a stick of dynamite. They were on the Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift soundtrack, the song is called "Round Round" and it's sweet.

I could go on. I switch around with different genres but I almost always listen to deep and complex music.

Hmmm, while right now i really like My Chemical Romance's Black Parade, i doubt in ten years i will still listen to the emo shit, so i'll have to revert to my old standby...

I can always (and have even as recent as two days ago) pop in Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell II, skip the first song, and enjoy the rest.
