  • RB drums will work with GH:WT...

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

If this is legit and actually happens, I will be happy. That's a great move on Activision's part. I am through and through a RB guy. I plan on getting RB2 for sure and had no plan to ever buy GH:WT. But, now that I know that RB drums will supposedly work with GH:WT, I actually would consider picking GH:WT up at a later date.

Now, the question is...will GH:WT drums work with RB1 and RB2? If that's the case, then I get to decide if I want to get the GH drums and RB2 or the RB2 set.

Too many choices, but I'm not complaining. More options for us, the consumer is always a good thing! :)

It should be set by the hardware manufacturers that the controllers need to be designed by a certain standard, period. It's fucking stupid to confuse the consumers this way.

I think RB2 sounds better than GH4. But I'm wondering if Harmonix/MTV will decide to sue Activision considering the design of the screen is pretty much EXACTLY like RB.

Why? Rock Band is just like Guitar Hero, which is just like a lot of other games, including the lyric interface for a lot of mic-only games.

If you really want to get technical, Harmonix developed Karaoke Revolution, which is the basis for essentially all karaoke games that are out now (Singstar is an unapologetic ripoff with a music video running in the background). Since Harmonix are the ones doing Rock Band, they're really just taking something they've developed and using it in another (better) way. So they're not copying someone else, they're taking something they've previously developed and are utilizing it better.

At the same time, there's no denying that when they created Guitar Hero they ripped it from Guitar Freaks and just added onto it make it (faaaar) superior.

So, there's absolutely no grounds for a lawsuit that wouldn't involve 6 or 8 different parties.

Basically, yes. The only thing is: what is considered protected by copyright and what isn't. That'll determine the outcome of the lawsuits. I personally think Konami's just grandstanding and they know they have no chance.
