I've played it.

Great. It's like button-mashing Dynasty Warriors (et al), but you have a gun/guns. It's very cool. The last levels on all the "movies" are very hard.

Hordes and hordes of zombie slaying action.

BUT

I don't think there is anything to unlock. You pop in the game and play ANY level.

The game is EXTREMELY different each time you play. It may "only" have 4 scenarios but it's so much different each time, they're more like maps than scripted scenarios. It's freakin' awesome multiplayer

holy shit... I just finally BEAT the first level... that's gotta be one of the most intense games I've ever played. Especially at the end where you gotta survive on the roof for 15 minutes.

I know Bovine and Chris have it for PC, does anyone else?

let's schedule a time for doing that. I couldn't get through the second level in the first "movie" or whatever, on my own. A scary witch freaked me out and killed me.

All you CAN do is AVOID the witch. Turn off your flashlights and sneak past her. If she freaks one of you is dying, most likely.

I just finished the 2nd movie (Death Toll) and that was pretty damn fun. Whenever you're on just give me a ring, unfortunately tonight I gotta go out and be social ;)

Anybody notice the Zombie Genocide achievement? It wants you to kill 53935 zombies, which is one more than the 53934 you need to kill on Dead Rising for the same achievement.

One of the safe houses in the game has a wall of people competing for how many zombies they killed "I GOT SEVEN" "39!" and at the bottom is this number or near it, lol

I'm thinking it's a bigger number than it seems. because every playthrough I've gotten complete fucktons of kills....like a few hundred each round which is an hour longish....

Yeah, which means killing zombies for about 200 sessions. I got the achievement in Dead Rising, and trust me, it's longer than it seems. And this is in the bottom section of the mall where you're just mowing over zombies over and over again. I was killing about a thousand every 2-3 minutes, but it was still kinda of a pain in the ass.

I'm at about 7400 right now. I'd love to do it, actually. That game is so much fun to play. I'd like to get a group to play Expert. It'll require 4 people to work together very, very well, though. And not too many here have it on 360, unfortunately

Anarky mentioned that on Expert friendly fire can basically one shot your teammates... so I won't be able to play expert for some time, lol.

I tried doing advanced with a pickup group the other day and we just couldn't complete the rescue at the end... that alone is vastly different from normal.

Yea, one stray shotgun blast is game over. Normal zombies are a bitch too, you have to play much differently.

Damn, I haven't been able to get through a campaign without shooting anyone yet. Sounds like you definitely have to have a point person who's crouching and people looking everywhere the whole time. And the melee attack is probably even more important then too, ain't it?

Sounds like fun :-)

Well I personally have Highway to the Dangerzone for mine, which makes the fight so epic.

As far as the tank himself, that has the tourettes guy sound pack
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8bUjBGRioU

I also have a sound clip for the Hunter:

Yes I'm immature, but I always know when a tank is coming up ahead of time, and its fun to play the hunter during Versus.

Definitely tons of fun last night. This is the first time I've played as the "infected." I played as everything except a tank. Here are my thoughts.

Boomer
Pros: You puke on the survivors to draw the swarm on the survivors.
Cons: Almost zero survivability. You run in, you puke, you die.

Smoker
Pros: You can hide behind a corner or on a building and shoot your "grappling tongue" to bring a survivor in closer.
Cons: It just isn't fun to play this class. This is my least favorite roll upon spawn.

Hunter
Pros: High damage. Better health. Higher survivability because you can "pounce" around fairly quickly.
Cons: Once you pounce a survivor, there isn't really anything else you can do. It took me several tries to properly play as a Hunter, but once you grasp it you have tons of fun!

More content coming! I'm already happy and I've only been playing since Saturday.
That game is perfectly built for additional scenarios to be added to it. And unlike other stupid DLC (ie. horse armor) it will be a perfect expansion and well worth the coin assuming Microshaft doesn't try to shaft us on it. $5 per scenario is max IMO, I'd like to see them do 2 for 600 points (8 bucks) or something.

Of course, you PC guys will probably get it for free......

Valve has stated that they don't like to charge people for DLC, but that is Microshafts deal. This is why I buy Valve games on PC though, TF2 on Xbox has still to get any of the class changes or patches.

At this point I pretty much exclusively play PC games. The only things I play on consoles at this point are sports titles. Even most popular console games come to PC unless its an exclusive title. I've tried playing FPS games with a controller and I'm horrible at it. I've been getting better though. I just need to practice. I'm used to sitting back in my cushy computer chair with my feet on the desk and my wireless keyboard in my lap playing MMOs. I've had to change my "stance"!

I may also purchase a better mouse for gaming. I was experimenting the other day with my wireless mouse compared to a similar wired device. I can tell a noticeable difference. A friend recommended I purchase a Logitech G5. I'm thinking about splurging and getting the G9. I may pick up a keyboard too. I want an illuminated one.

Pros: TONS of fun, lots of HP so you get to really make a dent in the Survivors health. Bash them off rooftops!
Cons: umm...you dont get to be one very often :( Oh, and their ranged toss skill takes a while to execute and leaves you open to attack.

Yeah, exactly. They WANT to give it to us but Microshaft won't let them unless they charge. They don't want to charge to give themselves a bad name so they keep it out. That's what happened with the Gears 1 maps where Epic finally conceded and allowed a timed charge for the stuff and then free 6 months later.

It's stupid and shows just how ridiculously greedy M$ is. It's not just limited to the developers or Live.

And I'm the opposite. I MUCH prefer a controller over a keyboard/mouse setup. I loved Wolfenstein and all (hated Doom and Quake) but it's just so much more comfy to be on the couch on my chaisse with controller in hand than in a computer chair.

Also, I'd never want to pay to keep up my hardware. I did back in the 486 days but since I'm not a big PC gamer I don't feel the need to anymore. Yesterday I just got my first LCD monitor for cryin' out loud :-)

I think I prefer the Boomer. I like the quick rush in, puke and cause mass hysteria because the puked on cant see very well. Sit back and watch the horde of zombies rush in and finish the job while you wait to respawn.

I found myself being a spectator watching someone get pounced or rushed by zombies and DYING to respawn quicker so I can get in on the action!

I'm still not too good at the Hunter pounce and I think I need to know the maps better to be a better Smoker so you know how to get to a good spot quickly.

Those are the big drawbacks to PC gaming. Hardware management (figuring out why game A doesn't work with driver version B ) and cost can be frustrating. You just have to learn to troubleshoot and shop around to get the best bang for your buck when upgrading. For me personally though, the end experience is excellent. Its all in what you have fun playing.

 #130649  by Anarky
 Tue Dec 30, 2008 1:28 pm
The boomer is my favorite, just because its mass hysteria when you goo them.

The smoker... simply does not do enough damage in Versus. He takes forever to incapacitate anyone and there is time to get out of the tentacle if the player has a clip and fires in the direction of the smoker.

Hunter is good overall, and he can wall jump from wall to wall. Just jump to a wall and jump again.

In the end its all about the team work. If a smoker draws in a guy and one person comes to save them have a hunter pounce them ahead of time, or have a boomer ready to vomit.

 Tue Dec 30, 2008 4:44 pm
I'm gonna go online as the Infected sometime. I've only played the co-op and loved it.

I imagine the Smoker's probably only effective if you sit up on rooftops and do stealth attacks in combination with the other zombies. The Boomer definitely sounds like fun and I'm really lookin' forward to playing as a Tank. Can you play as the Witch? Probably not, it would be almost silly

 #130658  by Tessian
 Tue Dec 30, 2008 5:01 pm
Smokers are perfect for picking off people and drawing them into a crowd of zombies. One of the most effective things you can do is hang back and grab one of the survivors that's slacking behind right before they do something to get separated (like jump down a hole). There's almost no chance then for someone to save him. Or in the middle of a big fight, just pulling them out of the group. Smoker definitely takes more patience than the others.

To answer your question Zeus-- no you can't play as the witch. What we found last night, though, is the witch can easily be used to the infected's advantage and half the time she's what made the difference in one team losing or winning. You can wait to jump then near the witch, or use a smoker to pull one TO a witch, either way it's instant death for at least one person.

 #130659  by Louis

I don't think you can play as a Witch. I think that would be way overpowering. They can one hit people.

 #130660  by Anarky
 Tue Dec 30, 2008 5:22 pm
If you played the Witch you might get stuck crying and being Emo the whole time, because after all they can avoid you.
