Bloomberg reports that Sony has cut 16,000 of their employees. Sony itself hasn't been incredibly profitable in recent years. There was the incident with the PS3 as well which actually caused the entire Sony Corporation to go into the red for a few months. Their goal is to save 1.1 billion dollars a year by March 2010.
