<div style='font: 12pt "Cooper Black"; text-align: left; '>by 'borrowing' win2000 pro from my work and doing a fresh format and install. It feels good to have a clean comp, i hate it when it gets boggled down with junk. My 20 gig HD was practically full before the format and now its still half empty.

Lately i've been getting a whole lot of "Explorer Error"'s and blue screens of death. We use 2000 at work and man is it rock solid.

Happy days.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt "Cooper Black"; text-align: left; '>win2000 professional
20 gig HD (only thing that still sucks, but i dont have a lot of stuff anyways)
Athlon XP 1800 (over-clocked so my CPU thinks its an XP 2000, even says so in diagnostics, ha)
768 PC2100 DDR RAM (1x512 1x256)
ATI Radeon 9600 pro
ECS k7s5a mobo (a relatively unknown manufacturer but this got great reviews 2 years ago, it still runs solid)
Soundblaster Live with some cheapo 3 speaker system (i want to get the Logitech z540's some day)

About a year and a half ago i went to a computer trade show at Dulles Expo Center and bought the CPU, mobo, and case/powersupply. About 6 months ago i got the RAM (i was using old 128 SDRAM from my 3 year old Gateway, the mobo supports both SDRAM and DDR, one of the reasons i liked it). In just this past week i got the vid card and OS. Everything else is leftover pieces from my old Gateway.

Its not the fastest, but it was built by me with love and it runs all the current games and will run HL2 and Doom3 so it suits me just fine. ^_^ (plus it wasnt too expensive)</div>

<div style='font: 12pt "Cooper Black"; text-align: left; '>not a patch, he means wiping out 98 altogether and installing 2000. It was a joke man.</div>

<div style='font: 11pt "Fine Hand"; text-align: left; '>~I~ was being funny. There's no such thing as a Win2000 patch for Win98. I meant it as a format/install better OS. Remember, Windows gets more patches per year than a nicotine addict would in three. *winks*</div>

<div style='font: 12pt "Cooper Black"; text-align: left; '>agreed, i've 'repaired' 98 with the CD multiple times and yet it still goes on the fritz after a few months. I got fed up with it this time, backed up important stuff, and am now running smooth on 2000, weee.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt "Cooper Black"; text-align: left; '>It is an older board, it is only AGO 4x. Once that becomes an issue i'll swap it out as well, probably in 6months to a year or so.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt "Cooper Black"; text-align: left; '>It also required me to flash a new BIOS to be able to overclock, which wasnt really a problem since i found a good step by step manual. There is a forum board out there devoted to the k7s5a that gave me ALL sorts of usefule tips, files, and info.</div>
