  • Warner Bros buys Turbine :(

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

What makes it sad? Has Warner Brothers been fucking over the awesome companies they've bought so far? What's the profit in that? It looks more to me that they're buying developers that have the rights to kick ass franchises (LOTR, Batman) so that they can keep making kick ass games and make more money. Until they start dicking around and ruining companies we have nostalgia for I don't think we should view good companies having more financial backing as a problem.

Edit: Are they even making anything new right now? They're being very generous with the expansions for their ongoing MMORPGs and their experiment with D&DO is intriguing. Maybe with more financial backing they can get back into making new games again.

Companies have been making a profit out of fucking over awesome companies that they've bought for decades.

Okay, for pete's sake, I'm talking about Warner Brothers and them buying up video game developers. I'm looking for an actual reply not cynical rhetoric.

Turbine always had a special connection with their fans (pun? lol). I just don't want them to lose their identity. Hopefully this just opens up some new IP for them.. Toon Town MMO?

I really don't think they're hurting for money.. LOTRO has been very successful.

But that requires thinking and specific knowledge. It's much easier to pretend to be wise by throwing out blanket cynicism.
