It was a very short fight, Fedor went in and smashed Werdum and it looked like he was going to finish the fight very quickly until Fedor got caught in a triangle armbar and was forced to tap. Weird seeing this, since Fedor had often won fights from the bottom in the past with similar tactics.

In defeat Fedor was as humble as he was in all of his victories of the past decade.

In combat sports, all reigns must come to an end sometime, Fedor's was just so incredibly long and with so many fights that we forgot this guy could lose. In his ten years, he defeated most of all of the top fighters from the decade earning himself the title of greatest of all time, and that was around five years ago; he just kept winning until last night when BJJ fighter Febricio Werdum found the answer.

Werdum will now face Alistair Overeem for the second time for the Championship, the first was in PRIDE where Werdum was successful in victory. Werdum also scored a victory over Fedor's brother Aleksander (So he has defeated both Emelianenko brothers). The thing is, Alistair Overeem was a very young fighter back then, he is a whole different fighter today; and earned himself the #3 position in the World Class K-1 kickboxing tournament this past December - in MMA he has looked very strong of late, but hasn't fought a top BJJ guy like Werdum.
