I was reading Champions Online had another one of those successful story where revenue/login went up by over 1000% or something (not sure how you can lump those two criterias together). However, I actually played Champions Online and also during their free weekend stuff when it was P2P, and there was like 20 guys in the level 40 zone and Champion Online only has one server. Yeah there is probably instances and stuff but when the game launched there were like 25 instances of Millenium City (20-30ish zone) which is 50-100 people each, so you'd think you should have more than one instance of the level 40 zone up. When I put myself in the queue for the Crisis in Lemuria it took like 3 hours before I got an instance that consisted of just myself, and you have to do the Crisis before you can access the zone so you'd think there has to be some activity there.
I'm really curious what the before/after numbers are when you hear about these P2P to F2P success stories. Are the 'after' numbers so amazing because no one was playing the game before?
