So this game may or may not be out for you, depending on where you live and how much people do or don't give a fuck about street date releases ;p

In terms of content this game is really filled.

It has an actual complete story mode that takes you through 16 characters Johnny Cage->Sonya Blade->Scorpion->Cyrax->Liu Kang->Jax->Smoke->Sub Zero->Kitana->Jade->Kung Lao->Striker->Kabal->(Spoiler)->Nightwolf->Raiden. It takes place after Mortal Kombat Armageddon, but due to certain events you end up reliving Mortal Kombat 1-3, don't want to spoil too much here, because the story mode is actually one of the games biggest highlights, it's rare for a fighting game to deliver any kind of story mode that makes sense, and this one is actually a joy to play through, it's really cool watching the first and second Mortal Kombat tournaments unfold.

If you want you can play it old arcade style and pick any character and just fight through a bunch of people and eventually fight Shao Khan and get a character ending(Maybe the original endings since the story mode changes things)

There's alot of little things to unlock, you get points from doing the story mode, and playing online. These unlock new fatalities, outfits, stages, character art.

There's an event tower with like 300 challenges, and the challenges range from easy to downright absurd.

There's a place that lets you practice just your fatalities so if you wanna run through and see them all or practice execution before going online and murdering people that works.

The online is kind of neat as well, there is a spectator mode with large lobbies, so while people are fighting you can shoot off tiny comments about stuff you see on screen, and after someone wins you can rate their play 1-10.

Speaking of online, this game is fairly scrub fairly, same as most MK games, you don't need to be terribly skilled to win , spamming the same cheap move repeatedly is about as efficient as trying to do fancy things, especially online where lag plays a factor in reactions. Jury is still out if this game has as much depth as say Street Fighter IV(I'm thinking no, but maybe I'll see something otherwise to convince me), BUT I won't deny its alot of mindless fun to start with, same as the original 3 MK games.

Anyway if any of you guys pick it up, lemme know what you think.

So the story mode is one big mode for all 16 characters, kinda like the story mode for Smash Bros Brawl?

been playing pretty good. there is some hilarious shit in here. I mean he did the screamer troll video thing in the krypt where a zombie has scared the shit out of me a couple times. I dunno. I'm enjoying it. Can't wait till they actually get enough online servers up to start playing with that. As it is the King of the Hill mode is pretty sweet. enjoyable with a surprising amount of depth as every character plays differently. Some sluggish and some really quick with different damage output and potential.

You're missing out. It's phenomenal, far better than Melee, and that was amazing.

In that story mode, you don't choose your character. You start out with I believe Mario and you just go through basically platforming levels (with bosses) and "discover" the other characters along the way (this also unlocks them for play in other modes) through cutscenes (pretty nice ones, especially for Nintendo). By the time you're done going through the three-hour mode, you unlock something in the neighbourhood of 20 characters.

It was a neat way to play through the game and unlock the characters and I think it would actually work quite well with Mortal Kombat.

Ah, well only 2 characters are locked in story mode I believe. Quan Chi, and another secret character I don't wanna spoil. :0

I just like the fact the one you won't name plays completely differently than the character he also happens to be also being.

I'm actually happy after MK Vs. DC I think they found a way to tell an actual story in a fighting game. Something that annoyed me that MVC3 didn't have when it could have been amazing (Even though in interviews they kept saying there would be a story that got you playing as all of the characters) MK did this well and I quite enjoyed it. The Challenge tower is also quite fun although man, some of these things are a bitch and a half.

And yes, as with all MK bosses the boss characters are ridiculously overpowered and a fucking hellish bitch to beat if you don't know what you are doing

No I was playing on the hardest difficulty.

Basically just back up all the way, he'll throw 2 spears, then hammer, when he throws the hammer, teleport, uppercut.

After he's down walk up to him, he'll wake up and kick or swing or do something, teleport, uppercut, repeat until dead.
