<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I'm still having insoemnia, so instead of going to sleep I'll write this up.
What RPG would you like to see a sequel? It doesn't have to be directly related, but it shouldn't be something that only got a name tacked on either. Here's mine:
Chrono Trigger - As much as I like Chrono Cross, it is just not a sequel. The mood is completely wrong, and the game just doesn't play like Chrono Trigger. I think the closest thing Square made after CT is Brave Fencer Musashi. It's the only game that captures the same kind of atmosphere (though Brave Fencer's plot is more comedic than serious). Although I heard they started talking about the next Chrono game, I don't think Square can pull this off with the staff assigned to the Chrono series especially if it's the same one that made Xenogears. Xenogears is a great game, but it's also about as far away from Chrono Trigger as it gets. Besides, I'm not even sure if Mitsuda's coming back to work for Square.
I think Kingdom Hearts might be the closest thing to a Chrono Trigger sequel we'll see for a while. Well, actually the game looks kind of gloomy, but I figure if it's got Disney in it, everything's got to turn out alright. We're probably not going to see some kind of messed up ending like Sora gets thrown into the oblivion for all of eternity. Okay, Sora using a key as a weapon is kind of goofy, but if you think about it, it's not any crazier than the Gunblade. Riku looks really cool. Screenshots does not do his incredible presence justice. If there is someone worthy to take Sephiroth's throne as the coolest human-sized villian (I mean yeah there might be better villians, but very few of them are human sized. Even when they're supposed to be human, they're usually like 5 times the height of the main character), it'd be Riku, even though I don't think he's a villian. He has that aura of superiority captured perfectly.
I've no idea how a Chrono sequel would look like. The story is pretty complete, and trying to wrap up the loose ends will most likely fail like what happened in Chrono Cross. I guess I'm looking for more of a game with the same style as Chrono Trigger as opposed to a related sequel.
The other game I'd like to see a sequel is Final Fantasy Tactics. Besides the obvious stuff like fixing the broken battle system, they can also actually put a complete end to the story. Vagrant Story apparently takes place after Tactics (since they mention people like Agrias). We can see the Church is still corrupt and that kind of thing, so obviously Ramza didn't actually manage to do anything besides saving the world, which isn't good enough. I had this idea that started out as part of my writing, but the more I think about it, the more it make sense. Zodiac Beasts simply cannot be defeated by Ramza's divine justice and sense of righteousness alone. The Beoulve Family's divine power is quite literally borrowed 100% from the Zodiac Stones. Zodiac Stones give raise to all the holy powers like Holy Swordtech, Holy, healing, Ultima, resurrection, and that kind of stuff. Defeating Zodiac Beasts with Holy Power is kind of like that episode in Slayers where they're trying to kill the guy that grants the power of Dragon Slave with the Dragon Slave.
In one sense, you can say the Zodiac Beasts are really defeated, and presumably won't be back anytime soon, at least not for 100 years or whatever. On the other hand, the world is still a totally messed up place, with the Church deceiving the masses as it always have been. It's not suprise, of course, that I'm on the Delita camp so far as heroes in Tactics is concerned. I mean yeah he betrayed his best friend, his girlfriend, and everyone else, but I thought he has the power to truly purify Ivalice. He hates oppression as much as Ramza does, if not more, since he knows what it's like to be a pawn, whereas Ramza always lived up there with the nobles. Ramza knows the Church is messed up but he can't do anything about it because he can't just go in there and slaughter everyone (though he seems to do that a lot out of self-defense). Delita, on the other hand, would not hesitate to rip the Church from the ground up if it conflicts with his dream of a perfect Ivalice.
I'd like to see a direct continuation of Tactics, picking up immediately after the ending of Tactics. It doens't even need to have anything to do with Zodiac Stones (since they're probably out of power anyway from the last game). The first war was fought against supernatural forces and whatnot. The 2nd should be fought against mere mortals. I'd like to see the option of choosing either as Ramza or Delita for this. If you're Ramza, you should definitely not be allowed to go around commiting random acts of genocide. When a Zodiac Beasts rampages through a place that's supposed to be bad, but when Mr. Righteous goes through an area and somehow gets attacked by everything that moves and ends up killing them all, that's okay because it's in the name of justice?
I'd like to see Delita redeemed in the sequel. It's true that he may have done some horribly things, but he's also the only one with the power to save Ivalice, IMO. As shown by the way Tactics end, Ramza was not able to change anything other than saving the world. Ramza himself says he has no idea how his perfect world can come about, but Delita does, or at least he has a plan he's willing to try. The difference between Ramza and Delita is that if the only way to gain true peace is to go into Murond and slaughter everything that moves, Delita would do it but Ramza won't (though he sort of does it anyway in the last chapter...) Ramza, IMO, is too caught up in his impossible ideals to find a way to bring true peace to Ivalice.
Finally, whatever the final battle might be, I think Delita and Ramza both need to be participants. The problem with the final battle in Tactics, aside from being ridculously easy due to the TGCid factor, is that only one hero is present even though the story is not just about Ramza Beoulve. If Ramza and Delita are not working for a common goal, then they should be fighting each other.</div>
