I guess this technically can go here.

Anyway, I hate everything on TV, pretty much, but these two new shows are pretty damn good. Like, Good as in "shit-I-need-to-be-home-in-time-to-catch-the-next-episode" Good...which I really haven't felt about any TV shows in the last buncha years.

If you haven't seen em, it's a shame...try to check them out.

House: Tuesdays 9/8c
The Contender: Sunday 8/7c

If you like what you see, you can always get up to speed by BT'ing the old eps (which I think is VERY important for The Contender).

Edit: I guess I'm mostly posting this because I was surprised to hear both these shows are getting low ratings...which I think is pretty stupid.

The marriage was built to last, but the house was...too...small!

....go watch the shows if you haven't Sine.

I guess I can kinda understand why these shows wouldn't get immediate high ratings. House is a medical drama of sorts (how many of those have we seen?) and The Contender is yet another "reality show" (I'm pretty burned out on these personally).

But both shows offer something a little different. Mabye House is more of a personal preference (I've always like Hugh Laurie and the role is great) but The Contender should definately appeal to everyone (my girlfriend hates boxing but loves the show).

I'd watch House if it wasn't in the same time slot as The Amazing Race.

The Contender is the Spike TV one about the UFC, right?

Are you serious? No, that's The Ultimate Fighter. The Contender is hosted by Sly Stallone and Sugar Ray.

My not having an antenna on my tv brings up a minor (if completely intractable without the purchase of extra equipment) obstacle to watching these shows. I did see House though one episode late last year and enjoyed it though.

In these cases, Bittorrent is your friend.

House is enjoyable simply because Laurie's character is such an asshole.

24 is the only show IMO worth the effort, the "shit I need to be home to watch this" kind of effort. That's another show that started off very slow (almost cancelled about 8 eps in 'cause it's so expensive to make, but word of mouth saved it). The others are HBO shows (OZ, Sopranos, Six Feet). My wife watches all these new shows that come out, so I get the idea of most of the shows. Just don't do it for me...
