  • Zelda Delayed to 2006 :(

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Other than FFXII, I can't actually think of a major Square project that's been delayed (and FFXII never had a formal release date announced anyway, as far as I know). I believe Square is one of the best companies out there for hitting its target dates, though I'm not 100% sure.

Hmmmm? Square almost always delays their major titles, every single game with a Final Fantasy name on it (since Final Fantasy III) has been delayed at least 6 months (except maybe Final Fantasy Online which I believe actually came out on time). Xenogears also received a large delay as well. Final Fantasy 9 was actually supposed to be released September 9th 1999, that later became Final Fantasy 8's release date after the game was pushed back 8 months, and FF9 was pushed back a year, FFX and X-2 were also pushed back, Final Fantasy 7 was originally supposed to be released in spring 1996 and was released in 1997 after numerous delays. Xenogears was delayed from winter 1998 until summer, then fall 1998.

Square never makes a big deal about release dates, so if games are delayed, it's not really news.

Ah. Well, Tort's right, then. Good strategy to have about release dates, seems like - don't make a big deal, and people won't be expecting it, then.
