I have never killed anybody, practiced racism, fomented for a war, or impeded on people's civil rights.

Israel is willing to kill where I and many other anti-Zionist Jews are not; many see it as a heroic nation for this reason. I think they are quite wrong.

sparked by a recent post of someone here (i forget whom) about how all the "God Bless America" signs, posters, and bumper stickers is getting close to the edge of seperation of church and state, i made the comment to my girlfriend that "isnt all this god bless america stuff being unfair to the rest of the Americans that arent christian?". i told her that the government seems to be indorsing this whole heartedly when they really shouldnt. Being a chrsitian, she was offended and told me that i have to remember that America was founded on religion and whether people like it or not and it is apart of our american history. knowing my stories on the pilgrims and the mayflower i told her that america was in fact a safe heaven for protestants to escape religious persecution and therefore america, if ANYplace, should be the most politically correct country on religoin. She backfired with while it is true that America TOLERATES and LETS other people practice whatever religion they want to, that doesnt change the fact that 99% of our founding fathers were christian and therefore instilled christian beliefs into our governemtn, laws, and society. she points out that even on our currency it states "IN GOD WE TRUST". she takes this as a capital "G" in god which would clearly mean christianity. while i said it probably represents a lower case "g" meaning all religions.

what the hell, being days later she has got me thinking too much and now i am starting to see that America probably WAS founded with chrstian guidlines. its obvious that america has come a long way in racial descimination (but of course we know it isnt perfect), but what about religous descrimination? do we just LET other religions do their own thing while the government and society keep running the country as chrstians. its been bothering me and i just wanted to know what you thought.

ps. the whole "god bless america" thing has just been getting on my nerves lately which is why i bring it up to begin with. in light of the recent events i think it just proves how much of a christian country we really are inspite of america's claim that we are not.

Unless its a long enough timeline, nothing *really* changes except the scenery. Maybe a few of us get busier with hobbies or diapers
