The Other Worlds Shrine

Your place for discussion about RPGs, gaming, music, movies, anime, computers, sports, and any other stuff we care to talk about...

  • We should just make an official 'Hi, I'm back thread'

  • Somehow, we still tolerate each other. Eventually this will be the only forum left.

Since it seems like so many of us go on a Shrine sabbatical only to come back eventually.

I've been off in Magic land lately, playing local tournaments, and being totally consumed by all things Magic the Gathering: theory, strategy, and whatnot. Pretty fun stuff, i'm really glad to get back into this hobby and have met really cool friends in my new town in the process.

But, i want to come back and post/lurk more, so we'll see how long that lasts!

Its officially been over a year now living in Colorado and the move couldnt have been a better idea. I went home for Thanksgiving this year and while i had a great time catching up with old friends and family, i missed Boulder and now feel completely at home here.

So anyways, hope everything is well at the Shrine. :)

What up Flipper...this is Mental. No hard feelings on my part, hope all is well with you and prosperous.

Also, M:tG still rocks.

There is a big magic scene out here, for sure. It feel like all the people, like me, who played as teenagers now have real jobs and can afford the decks we want to play, while also having time to do it, are the ones who are at these tournaments.

I was thinking of going to a big tournament this month in Seattle and staying with Manshoon, who visited me in Boulder this Summer, but with all the holiday travels i think i need to bag that idea. Next time 'shoon! (if youre lurking, which you usually are :)

I can loan out a lot of Extended format cards if you want. I don't have a lot of great stuff, but I have at least a few Birds, some nice foils, I don't know what's playable from the old core or expansions in the current meta though. I don't even think it's called Extended anymore.

I hope Magic will be a great outlet for you. :) It's the only game of fortune I still know and respect where skill absolutely still reigns supreme; and a top player can win 90-98% of the time - and where your cards are an investment if played right, not a cost.

Sine used to play a lot, I can play but not near good enough. We have boxes and boxes of cards! He plays a lot of Hearthstone now.

Hearthstone is EEEEBIL. (By which I mean it's the new Magic, and I don't have enough spare cash to throw at crafting 1600-point Leeroy Jenkins, etc. Great game!)

Holy shit! The old foagie found his way back. Were you out hunting with Cheney this whole time or what? If so, I'm amazed you survived :-)

Not hunting with Cheney. I was operating a drone protecting our former fearless leader. Now I protect Obama. I knew these video game skills would come in handy. I got my training from Mental's secret operatives.

Use your connections to set up the Shrine Squad. We'd be the impenetrable drone shield for the entire country (and Canada; a lot of us live up here too :-) )

Hi Joe!
Hello! Give Sine a deep kiss for me. Tongue. Don't let him breathe by pinching his nose too. That's how we used to do it before you came along. XD

I like Canada....except when you guys send us your polar vortex and screw up our roads. You know how many displaced Californians now live in the Northeast? They can't even drive when it gets cloudy! I should know! I live in Los Angeles (but I go back to the East Coast a lot for visits).

We need to toughen up you southern pussies. "Oh my GOD, there's a cm (about half inch for those who are allergic to the metric system) of snow on the ground, I'm trapped in my house, I can't go to work, MY LIFE IS OVER!". Suck it up, princesses, it's called "real life". There should be an exchange program where people from Cali go and spend a week with people from Buffalo for a week in January, that'll learn ya'll :-)
