As of approximately 11AM tomorrow morning, the Shrine can drive in every state and apply for the military. (But it still can't drink or gamble.)

Happy Shrine birthday/anniversary! If nothing else, this community has created a site that is older than almost every other site out there.

Also legal drinking age!

And yeah, this is the oldest tight knit community that I know about on the Internet. Even big groups like GAF, IGN, Gamespot, and GameFaqs only date back to 1999.

The only site whose community I can think of as older is Newgrounds, but their community is constantly changing, so while the location is the same, our community is older.

Think about it, we're so old that when we started, Chrono Trigger was still fresh, FF7 and GE007 weren't even out yet.

Happy birthday all you guys. Thanks to you Mental (Replay) for starting it and thanks to Sine & Shellie for maintaining it all these years. Although my profile says I joined in 2001 it was actually in (I think) 1998.

That's a long time...there are over 10 years of thoughts archived here...too bad those 8 years didn't survive.

I just noticed, if you go to the last page on Daily Stuph, some of the posts are dated 1969...the fuck is that glitch about?

Wild Arms came out April 30 1997 (NA). Two weeks later, I came here.

Who has the oldest active account on the board? :o

Crazy that posting here has been part of over half of my life.

Bragger :)

You have the oldest active account, but mental beats you out technically (he is on a new account, but nev is his). Those registered dates are estimates though I believe. I came over with folks from the PSX boards - so obviously people were here well before me.

It was still so long ago, that based on your name, I just assumed you were a really big fan of Warcraft 2 online.

I have lost access to all my old accounts and don't care, so Oracle can totally win the "oldest active account" competition as far as I'm concerned. :)

I was in middle school when I got here. 7th grade I think? 8th? I forget lol. It was 1997?

Nope. I was in my late teens, working at a software company and screwing a co-worker who used "KaliOsiris" as her email password.

In 1998 when I joined I was a Sophomore or Junior in high school, probably 17 years old. I asked Sine once to update my join date but it never happened :) .

Was playing a lot of RPGs back then. SOOOoooooo much more free time.

Secret of Mana (obviously), totally maxing it out several times.
FFII (IV)
FFIII (VI)
Chrono Trigger
Wild Arms

and then of course, there was Final Fantasy VII, which we all played at the same time with great nerdy excitement.

So by this point a great number of us have been here most of our lives. Think about it, from the time we joined until now is a longer stretch of time than from the moment we joined back to the moment we were born.

One of the best side effects of this board over the years is that I tend to spend April Fools' Day (which I call, with Tycho of Penny Arcade, "Liars' Day"), in discussion and reminiscence instead of the fear of others' pranks or my own.

Even at 17 I totally managed to forget it was April 1 when I uploaded it. I'm surprised nobody pranked the living beans out of me when it first went up.

Aquademesne was a magical time and place. I came here from Ashley's Playstation Forum (1996) until the kid graduated from high school and it got shut down. hehe! A few people from there followed me over but I don't think those guys post anymore (blue devil, snowdog and uh.....I think Akuma aka Slappy White)

Incidentally....where is Slappy? He has a game of mine which is very valuable. Panzer Dragoon Saga. Holy shit....yeah, that game.

I sent it to him but he never sent it back after he finished it.

Uhh...Hello...damn it. I followed and am still here.

And if it makes you feel better, I gave my copy of PDS to Wolfsamurai. I didn't expect it back but I am not positive I ever got a thank you either.

Oh that's right! You and I go waaaaaay back! haha!

PDS is the most sought after game in the world right now. Or at least the most expensive to buy.
