I think this is definitely good "green" news:
Elon Musk’s Tesla to reveal new house battery
After cost per kwh, how to handle "down time" for wind and solar is the biggest concern. Cost per kwh keeps falling but solar and wind installations will continue to require fossil fuel backups until dependable, affordable storage comes to market. This is a big step in that direction.

I can never decide whether or not to be mad at Elon for being friends with Peter Thiel and the Palantir people, or just give him the props he really is due as the Henry Ford of our time. Nobody else is pushing the electric car fast as forward as he is.

One of the biggest problems we have is we keep thinking there's a single solution to replacing fossil fuels in the generation of electricity, which we seem to need more and more of each year. That's a fallacy we need to get past. It's a combination of solutions (wind, solar, bio, hydrogen....whatever) that's gonna do it. Adoption of a variety of sources is what we should be aiming for, not the emergence of a "winner" we can hang our hat on.
News like this is great....as long as we use it properly and realize that it's not a white knight, which seems to be the sentiment I see when people talking about it. And I ain't no environmentalist, I'm talking about this in more of a "break the dependance that's crippling people around the world" point of view
