Obama (finally) says no to the Keystone XL pipeline

Vox: The Keystone XL pipeline is dead. Obama just killed it.
Not that this one event it going to change all that much, but it could signal a change. Environmentalists have shifted recently to a "keep it in the ground" effort to prevent fossil fuels from being extracted. This, they figure, will reduce supply, raise prices, and incentivize a shift towards renewables. Without the "keep it in the ground" effort, many environmentalists are afraid that any shift by wealthier nations toward renewables will just reduce the demand for fossil fuels, lowering costs, & encouraging poorer nations to embrace economies based around fossil fuels.
