If this isn't a comedy act. Great troll job by the caller =D

No, it has its place. It's when you ignore hard, empirical facts or use it for ulterior motives when it gets bad

Wow, I can't believe I watched/listened to the whole thing. It was painful.
Stefan Molyneux is this French-Canadian Anarchist/Atheist/Mens-rights YouTuber. I've watched a few of his videos before and find him to be a bit of a blowhard. It was pretty funny to watch him try to argue this guy as he is not knowledgeable on the subject and is hamstringed by his complete distrust of the government. I mean, the earth is round, we have photos. He never says this though because the caller could just say "but you always say you can't trust the Government, how do you trust Nasa???". I couldn't tell if the guy was just trolling him or if he was for real. If he was trolling, he did a pretty good job sticking with it for a long time.

I think the other guy is a troll, and he knew the host would take the bait. Something about his tone just screamed it.

Hrm... nope. I'm pretty sure Eric is correct :p
If we could treat religion like Santa Claus (i.e. people find out it isn't real once they are old enough), then I could see it as being useful to teach a value system :p

That's not a good comparison. Religion is an evolving cornerstone of cultural development around the world, and has existed for all of history in various different forms and for many different purposes. Santa Claus is specifically a mascot of Christmas, the reason why kids believe Santa Claus exists is for the same reason they believe Peter Pan exists.
Stupidity is a quality specific to human beings, and by extension, the actions and interpretations that they bring. Yes there are stupid people who subscribe to religion, but substituting their culture is not going to make them any less stupid. There are plenty of very intelligent people who subscribe to religion as well and there's nothing about their interaction with it that would suggest their experience, actions, or interpretation is stupid.
But either way, neither of these two guys are religious, in fact, they are both identified themselves as New Age/atheist types. Maybe they're just stupid.
