...or possibly a Masonic attack with the masks on once again, but I digress.
House Homeland Security Chair Michael McCaul said that the incident appeared to be "the worst terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11" and called it a "sobering reminder that radical Islamists" are targeting the US.
As usual, HS wants us to be very, very angry about radical Islam, and 9/11, and terrorism...be afraid! Be very afraid! Just hand over all your rights and they will keep you safe...

...which they don't, no matter what, judging by the fallout here.

I've been checking for information on inconsistencies in the official story, but there isn't much substantive - a few rumors about people hearing explosions in the area that the police said were "planned drills".

It's a huge issue in the US. I know it's in your constitution that everyone should have a gun, but that was on a document written hundreds of years ago when the world was a very different place and a weapon was a very different thing. Time to grow up and realize guns are very dangerous, and shouldn't be put in so many angry hands.

The result, otherwise, is tragedy.

I love a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy but this one doesn't make sense. I've seen several people claiming this on the Internet. Considering Obama and the Democrats control HS and the national security apparatus you'd think that, were they to set up some "false flag" operation they'd do one that better suits their interests. The Democrats have built their voting coalition based on inclusiveness. They are trying to include gays, Muslims, Latinos, & other immigrants. They wouldn't do something to split their base like this: having a Muslim attack gay Latinos. It doesn't make any sense. If anything an attack like this best suits Donald Trump.

Sadly, recently events like this have just made people *more* afraid and *more* likely to support "gun rights". They feel afraid and want protection. There's a multi-billion-dollar industry pumping up the fear and buying (Republican) politicians.

Some updates:
  • Mateen called 911 before the shooting to pledge allegiance to ISIS but Obama admin say that there's no evidence he was directed by ISIS. ISIS however has since claimed him as one of their own.
  • Supposedly this was the largest mass shooting on US soil and the largest anti-gay attack in US history as well.
  • Reports are coming in that Omar Mateen was a closeted gay man. Maybe he thought he had to kill all these people to "get-right-with-Allah"?
