I was able to see Pacific Rim last night at a 7:30 PM sneak. It was exactly what I guessed it would be from the trailers, a fun summer popcorn movie that you don't take seriously. There was a limited story and character development, but the group I went with expected so much more simply because Guillermo del Toro was behind the movie. Last I checked directors are allowed to make a fun movie from time to time that doesn't need all the twist and turns of Pans Labyrinth.
The CGI was great, the casting was great. It was fun! That is all I needed!!! Who needs the citizen kane of robots fighting monsters!
