lol, I really liked that intro when I was like 9. I think Ranma was actually one of the first anime I ever saw.

Going to have to go with Bakemonogatari's second opening out of five if we're going for ridiculous
Although the first OP gets honorable mention for its depiction of staplers fucking.. or spooning? I don't know. They're creative.

I used to have all the Ranma 1/2 opening/ending songs.

Hikaru no Go should get honorable mention because it takes a hell of an opening (or several, considering how long it ran) to get you amped up for an anime about a board game that you don't know how to play.

Nope, that goes to Death Note's final season:
A Japanese version of System of a Down doing a kickass fucked up anime intro?
Fuck. Yes!
I should be a dick and lock this thread, because I'm 100% sure I'm right, but I still would like to laugh at your pathetic attempts at providing something that even pales in comparison. What's up people, indeed.

That intro is stupid and I spit on you for even recommending it.

Death Note markets itself well to the people who enjoy that particular fantasy. Not sure that intro would even make my top ten, though. If the category is fucked up introduction animations set to heavy metal-ish scream-singing, then my favorites would be the three or so intro songs to Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Particularly classy is the main character hanging himself in almost all of the intro animations.

This is a new anime I've been watching, I really like the intro.

Upon further investigation I believe I'm going to check out Mirai Nikki in the near future. Its pioneering of using a friendless whiny loser as a main character intrigues me as this has not been done before.
But seriously, I may have to check it out. Sounds like East of Eden which I like a lot except the characters don't appear to be pussies and actually go around killing each other, thus moving the story along.

The start of Mirai Nikki is his psychotic girlfriend, she's batshit crazy and fun to watch.

Nah, still not as good as the DN intro. I have to give props to that Zan Sensei intro for use of a Pussy Lazer, but then again, that just says volumes about fucked up Japanese culture. And none of the songs are as good as the Maximum the Hormone song. (I hate songs I can't translate.)
Also, the DN intro does a good job of capturing the spirit of the last season into a 80 second intro.

Ah Escaflowne. One of the last animes I watched when Kazaa was still basically the only way I had to watch anime. One of the worst dubs I've ever had to sit through. Yoko Kanno should probably be banned from the thread though, seeing as how she's the most talented anime soundtrack composer to ever live.
