He played the Doctor on Star Trek Voyager... I figured a science fiction guy like him would have sober taste in women. She was crazy, apparently carried weapons, associated with drug dealers, and violent criminals. It's not like he just met her, and she hooked him in... Picardo was married to this psycho for 28 years. Bad judgement... She gave her gun to this guy, who just happened to use the gun to murder a friend of hers.

"Love makes fools of us all."
Ask Phil Hartman...though from what I heard, Andy Dick was to blame for that one as much as his wife was. (She had been a cocaine addict, and Dick, who truly lives up to his name, deliberately reintroduced her to the drug and/or tried to drive her insane as some kind of dark joke, is how I heard the story.)

I don't see anything about her being crazy for most of their marriage. It's more likely that she got mentally ill over time due to just plain bad luck or being exposed to the outskirts of money/fame in the acting business. I can't imagine how hard it would be to cut someone you have two kids with completely out of your life or if you'd even want to in a scenario like this. I wouldn't necessarily call it bad judgement as much as just a damned shame.
He's a great character actor. Arguably the best part of Voyager and a very amazing addition to the cast in everything else I've seen him in.
