Talk about bad timing. No one cares about malls anymore, and unless you're in a place like Dubai, Iran, or China, mall culture has been in steady decline since around the time of the first movie.

Mallrats was one of my favorite Kevin Smith movies. I know a lot of people didn't like it because it was a teen movie and not an indie movie like Clerks. I liked the Clerks animated series. I'd watch this. But yeah, malls? Half the malls I went to as a kid are gone now. The mall near me now in Madison is slowly being converted into a sort of new-urbanist main-street type place with apartments, Condo towers, a grocery store, etc. Almost all stores are now facing a street and the indoor part is largely gone.
I bet this will go on one of the online streaming services like Netflix. I doubt any network would touch this given that the movie is 20 years old & his last cartoon venture was a flop.

Mallrats, Clerks, (and Chasing Amy) were the movies that epitomized the 1990s for me. I like all three quite a bit. I like Kevin Smith's later stuff too in that universe, even if Dogma is a little hard to get through if you know the story.

I think he's just smoked too much weed and thinks everything is a good idea these days.
