<div style='font: 12pt ; text-align: left; '>I'm writing this now because I tried yesterday and the server was down, of course, as USUAL, it's Sine's fault, aparently he picked a server that also had a popular Lord of the Rings site on it!
Anyways, there were 6 of us, 3 guys and three girls, a chick (my chick) was driving so guess who the 4 were that were mashed in the back seat? As usual, I was cranking out the newfie jokes since the girl sitting in the front happened to be from the rock (all in good humor, after all, she's been tagging along with us for 2 years and has gone out with all of my friends pretty much), and I happen to be a real life asshole. Of the 6 of us, all the guys had read the book at least once, and the girl driving (my girlfriend) had read like 5 chapters a year ago, the newfie girl in the front had read it for the first time this year. So of course, we'd all be going in with different experiences.
ANYWAYS, we show up about 45 minutes early, people were already lined up, there were a bunch of freaks dressed up like Hobbits and Gandalf and other Characters from the book. We wait for about 15 minutes and then they let us through, and we managed to get seats in the near back where you can see the entire screen. We spend about 20 bucks on the expensive assed theatre food and eat most of it while waiting. I sit waiting, anticipating, and soon the previews start, they go on for what seamed like a half hour, ALL of them I don't think I havce ever seen before, including a new Austin Powers movie, and a few other surprises that I forgot. I remember one had some SNL people in it including that guy from Third Rock from the Sun (the father) and Chevy Chase, there was also some movie about Curling that looked like it could be either good or extremely boring.
So we waited and then the movie started, my heart began to race, and I figured, I'm GONNA be disapointed as hell with this movie, my expectations are WAY too high... The opening scene with the First war starts up, the Last Alliance vs. The Forces of Mordor. This Battle scene was INSANE, it ended off with Sauron coming out of his Dark Tower, Barad-dur (which was GIGANTIC) and he started fighting each hit knocked like 50 people flying back a few hundred feet to their deaths, DAMN! It looked awesome! The music and everything made for an extremely wicked assed atmosphere, I was back in my seat and almost to the point of shivering (you know that feeling you got in Junior high seeing tits for the first time, not just in a magazine or on TV, but ACTUAL TITS? THAT is the feeling), I guess you can call that, being BLOWN AWAY by the scene. The thing was, there were about 2 dozen or more scenes that were even better than that one throughout the movie. It was like a Roller Coaster ride, everything about it, the special effects were Insanity.
The Characters, they were a lot different than in those cheesy animated films, they were a lot more realistic in personality I found, especially Pippin and Merry of the Hobbits. The whole story about Boromir was WAY better done than I expected it would have been. Dramatically, the movie surpasses Braveheart, possibly the most critically acclaimed movie of the last decade, with the music, the special effects, and the VERY well done plot translation, this movie makes Braveheart seam lame (and THAT was my favorite movie of all time). The way the action is set up makes any anime movie I've seen a shadow in comparrison (And I'm a fanatic, even though I don't know the freaky "Otaku" stuff). Titanic was definetly surpassed in EVERY single area, from drama, to special effects, acting, plot, realism (Yes REALISM, Lord of the Rings seamed very real even though the stuff they do is physically impossible). The battle scenes were amazing, especially the one at the end of the movie and the one in Moria, Legolas fighting the Cave Troll was fucking awesome! Yeah, I'd say it would be hard to find a movie with comparable battle scenes, assuming they even exist right now. The Size of the armies in that movie was UNREAL, the special effects guys really know what the hell they were doing. The Balrog looked a lot like Ganon from Zelda Ocarina of Time, I can't wait until the next movie when Gandalf talks about his battle with the Balrog, because YOU KNOW they're going to show it.
So when the movie was all said and done, even with my enormous expectations, I must say I was shocked and blown away by this film, there aren't words to describe it: 10 out of 10, Greatest movie ever, a Masterpiece, a work of Art, but, I guess my first reaction was, It KICKED ASS! Fitting to have the Greatest movie of all time for the greatest Story ever told. And if you are wondering, all 6 of us had the EXACT same opinion, THE BEST movie ever made! Well, I guess until the Two Towers, everyone thought the Fellowship would make a bad movie compared to the other two books, The Return of the King making the best book of course, now just imagine what the next two movies are going to be like. As far as the Fellowship not making a great movie, everyone was sure as hell wrong on that point! Right now I'm not quite looking that much forward to the next movie, I'm mostly looking forward to seeing The Fellowship of the Ring again!
