  • Yeah...Sony fucked up

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

Additionally, Sony has revised its shipment numbers for both the US and Japan -- hold onto your butts. America will receive roughly 400,000 units come November 17th, while Japan will be forced to manage with a launch number totaling only 100,000. The production problems have forced a one month delay, removing about one million units from their original launch plans, said Sony to the European press.

Looks like we were right on that one. I may just end up getting one and selling it on Ebay

I'll eventually get all three, unless PS3 turns out to be Saturn 2. It is just a matter of when. Wii this year for certain, 360 anytime between this year and 2008. PS3 no time planned.

Mistwalker is one of the most interesting new companies, they develop for two systems Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS. For those who are not familiar with Mistwalker, it is Sakaguchi's new company which also employs Nobou Uematsu and Akira Toriyama. There have also been rumours that Yasanori Mitsuda, Hitoshi Sakimoto, and Matsuno will be involved with the company as well. For those who keep up with epic adventure and RPG development, this is a sort of a super team; these guys are among very best in that world; the other major figures would be: Shigeru Miyamoto, Kitase (directed Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6, 7, and 8.), and Tetsuya Takahashi (Xenogears, Baten Kaitos, Xenosaga) and you have about all of the best Epic Adventure game developers.

Oh, I don't want the PS3 off the bat, i'm just thinking of the coin I'll make if I can get one and sell it off on Ebay. I have a few sources in town, I may be able to get one. But I ain't buying the 360 or the PS3 for a while. They've gotta hit half price of their launches before I consider it.

The Wii at this point is the only one I want off the bat. Not a Nintendo thing (I waited for a used 'Cube) but more of a cost and games thing. Just seems more interesting for types of games as I'm bored of a lot of the me-too games, which make up like 90% of the market. I want more games like Loco Roco or Pac Pix and less games like Bully or Saints Row

I think Bully actually looks pretty interesting. Saints Row is incredibly shameless, but at least it's competent. I can't think of any other GTA clones that are even that.

I have a 360 and while we're in a really dry period for decent games for it, I don't regret the purchase. I've gotten a lot of play out of the few games I've bought for it (Oblivion, GRAW, and Fight Night) and am really excited about a bunch of games coming out for it (Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Halo 3, etc.).

I'll be getting a Wii on the day it launches (if the fiance will let me). I'm a Nintendo fanboy.

I won't be buying a PS3 at launch (in March 2007, WHAT THE FUCK). I will never ever buy a Sony product at launch ever again. I'd prefer to never buy a Sony product again but I enjoy games too much to not buy a system :(.

That's the problem now, there are great games on all systems, so not buying one means ya miss out. Each of the recent systems I've gotten (GC, PS2, Xbox, GBA, DS, PSP) have all gotten tons of game time. But the price has to be right. I have yet to pay more than $200 Cdn for a system and don't really want to or need to 'cause of my collection, although I'm sure I will for the Wii for launch.

I still want a PS3, but probably won't be able to afford one at launch.

And just so you know, Eric, a lot of industry people share your opinion of Sony...though they might say "Sony's fucked up" instead, slight change in semantics...

They get great games to market, and I don't generally hold their marketing releases against them in that light, but I just wonder if it's really necessary to lie in *every* press release, or nearly so.

In other news, the PS3 will slice! Dice! Make julienne fries! And give you oral pleasure if you've had a fight with your SO...

I'm counting on the Microsoft to do a price cut when the PS3 launches. They'd be stupid not to. I'd be content if they'd just fix the exchange rate problem so we're not getting the shaft up north here.

Either way, I'll have to have a 360 when Mass Effect comes out. I'm really interested in Bioshock too, so hopefully that's rad as well. Having not played a hockey game for years, NHL 2007 looks really appealing for the 360. I just hired a hired a guy part time who was recently working with EA in Montreal as a tester and had nothing but good things to say about it.

As for the Wii, I don't think I'll get it at launch. There's not a lot at launch I'm too keen on aside from Galaxies, and hopefully the Wii version of Twilight Princess isn't just the same thing with some cheap wiimote tricks tacked on.

I'm getting a Wii and between 6 and 10 launch titles: Zelda: the Twilight Princess, Trauma Center: Second Opinion, Metroid Prime Corruption, Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Ubi-Softs 8th announced launch title for the Wii), Wii Sports, Dragon Quest Swords, Red Steel, and Elebits among those I am looking at. Due to the Xbox 360 costing like 500 bucks up here, all of that will still be cheaper. Some of the VC games I will get as soon as they are out are: Kirby Superstar, Terranigma, Illusion of Gaia, Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Mario World, Phantasy Star (any/all of them, even 3), Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, Super Castlevania, Casltevania 3: Dracula's Curse, Faxanadu, Banjo Kazooie (I think Nintendo has the rights to it), Mario Kart 64, Starfox 64, Lufia 1 and 2, and others; I am not overly familiar with the PC Engine/Turbografx 16 library (I just know Casltevania Rondo of Blood and Bonk), but very interested.

Xbox 360 does need a price drop up here, but also I would need an HD TV, the only thing the 360 has right now over the current gen is graphics, and that advantage is nullified without an HD TV. Though Mistwalker's support does look interesting. but not for the money that Microsoft charges.

The game I am most looking forward to is Zelda: Twilight Princess for Wii, the Gamecube one will be an amazing game too, but the Wii version looks to have more interesting content, plus a lot of extras not available in the Gamecube version due to the controller limitiations.

Sony and MS would collectively shit their pants when the Wii comes out in November. I can't wait for Sony and MS to realize painful realities of the console world.

I'm pretty sure they kept only Banjo and let the others (ie. Conker) go with Rare to Microshaft.

Rondo of Blood is an excellent platform Castlevania. There was a strong rumour about it getting the Castlevania Chronicles treatment after that one came out due to the interview on the disc. I was very disappointed it didn't come out. Even though I have the TG16 version I want to see it re-released. A definite download if it comes out. Same with Terranigma and Earthbound Zero, since it doesn't look like we're getting Mother 1&2 or Mother 3 here. Dungeon Explorer, Dragon Spirit, Blazing Lasers are all great TG16 games to go along with Bonk. Bomberman also got a good jump on the TG16.
