In today's market we tend to see a lot of overpriced games that always complain they don't make enough money. I think there's a few old series that can be brought back that'd at least be able to make a cheapish game that's playable. This would have to be a series, so no Skies of Arcadia here. I don't necessarily think these will be awesome games but they'd be better than most games so it's worth a shot.
Wild ARMS - The only good game in the series was the original Wild ARMS (even alter code F feels pretty out of place for some reason) but one good game was enough to spawn a franchise of 5 games, so they must have done something right. I think Wild ARMS would make a very good generic RPG, which is what the first Wild ARMs is, as long as it has the same quality of music. I think they try too much innovation, especially as the later story gets pretty dark like you find out the fact that Cecilia loves Rudy inadvertantly doomed Filgaia because she's the last Adlehyde and Rudy isn't human so she can't have kids so the Adlehyde bloodline died out and there were no more people who can directly communicate with the Guardians by the time Wild ARMS 2 came around so they have to start sacrificing random children like Tim or Colette to talk to the Guardians again. I mean seriously, I really didn't need to know that what looks like a generic boy meets girl relationship ended up dooming an entire planet and led to children getting murdered a thousand years down the line, and I think by the time Wild ARMS 3 comes around the metal demons have already won and all your work in the previous games were for naught. A new Wild ARMS should have the same old 'hope springs eternal' theme that made the first game good. As long as they still have the same composer and a halfway decent development team, it's hard to see this being screwed up. Heck they tried to screw things up in Wild Arms Altered Code F but it's still a passable game, even without the awesome opening theme.
Langrisser - A game that can easily be mistaken for porn since it's drawn by a guy most well-known for porn. It might as well be a dating sim especially with Langrisser 5 you got to have a significant other or you die in the final battle no matter what. It's also surprisingly hard and you can potentially save in a spot where you cannot possibly win because the enemies are too strong (but that's what cheat codes are for). It's a game where High Elves are always the best unit in the game but the elves are cute. Finally quite a few of the game lets you slaughter your own harem, which is something that's almost never done anywhere. There's something really satisfying when you get to kill Shelfaniel, Angelina, Jessica, and Rachel in one battle after wasting probably 40 hours trying to act nice to them. The gameplay will never come close to Fire Emblem but Fire Emblem's girls and quasi dating sim simulation part never comes close to the Langrisser's girls. And don't forget about the flying charge. There's never a move as ridiculous as that in a SRPG and it combines well with the difficulty curve. You'd be working your way toward a scenario and one of the uber enemy cavalry will show up, like Leon or Emily. They'd do a flying charge and instantly kill one of your characters (and any death permanently impacts the ending so you got to start over), and it's okay because it's the FLYING CHARGE. This is the only strategy game I'm aware of where cavalry units are considered as flying units, though that surprisingly actually captures how powerful cavalry is supposed to be (flying unit have a permanent 25% terrain bonus and non anti-air units have greatly lowered initiative against flying units).
Shining Force - Not the Shining series because it's too encompassing. I guess this can either be a SRPG or a Diablo clone. Either way Sega does a pretty good job at either.
