Biggest problem is that it's hard to even make it to the queue. Most of the time you just get a screen that says 'server full' which invites you to hammer the 'relog' button and hope you'll somehow get in. I mean I've been in position where you're position 9999 and estimated time to login is 5 days. That's fine. You can go take a nap or something when it happens. In FF14 you can't just get to a queue and wait. It's probably worsened by the fact the game doesn't kick out people for being AFK so there's a ton of people who are just permanently logged in. Thing is, kicking people for AFK is always an extremely dumb decision as people in MMORPGs have a fear of not seeing a ton of people around. If I was making a MMORPG I'd seriously consider having AFK bots that pretend to be players just to make the world populated and yet you're voluntarily removing people who serve in that capacity. Of course, this is assuming you actually have enough capacity to let everyone log on. Like I said in another post, I see no excuse for a lack of capacity in today's era. Donate the extra computers you don't need to SETI@home or whatever. It's not like the cost of hardware is a nontrivial part of the game's budget.
The dungeon boss music is awesome. It's actually reasonably cherographed with the fight, as in the music sort of gets into a climax around the 1 minute mark which is about the time it takes the boss to actually do something interesting. It reminds me of how Magus's theme in Chrono Trigger always starts as he finishes talking (since his pace of talking is synced to the music).
This is more like EQ1 in the modern era than another WoW clone. The pace of the game is slow but it is not necessarily any more forgiving. It's just not like WoW "Your allies are already dead" when they call out for help.
Edit: Looks like the queue is capped at around 200 people and if you're beyond that you just get a message 'world full'. I mean seriously, what the heck? I'm pretty sure I've seen 5 digit queues, and sure they make good screenshots to cry about but at least you can just come 3 days later or something or start over on another server.
