And it's a shitty iOS game! Yay!...wait...

Anyway this is keeping in line with Square's new plans to focus on mobile gaming and less on consoles.

Okay I know that the mobile market is something worth breaking into for the industry but has there ever been a popular mobile game that's an ACTUAL game, and not casual like Angry Birds or something? (real question, I'm not remembering any) This just doesn't look fun to play. I'm willing to admit how brilliant the iOS is for stupid app shit, browsing the internet, and music but gaming? AND it's an iOS exclusive? Come on, now. That's just stupid talk.

Yeah, a tablet exclusive seems braindead at this point in time. I mean it's okay to try to really get some good games into the mobile market, but don't isolate it to one OS. At least port it over to Android.

I guess the 2M+ sales worldwide of Human Revolution didn't convince Squeenix it was worthy of a sequel.

Kinda sad when a game with over 2M in sales is considered a failure.

The mobile platform isn't very well suited towards "actual games"

But is very well suited towards applications like Simpsons: Tapped Out and Clash of Clans. These are definitely casual focussed, but not necessarily bad - just different from the sorts of games you'd play on a dedicated gaming device with a dedicated gaming interface.

I think it can be, but it's going to require some actual work to do it. As in "experiment on how things will work and what needs to be adapted". The 3DS has "actual games"... why not the mobile platform?

They don't have to be casual, but they need to be well-made to get past that mold.

The 3DS is a dedicated hand console with actual controls, mobile phones do not have d-pads. analog sticks, and buttons. It works for games like Ghost Trick & Phoenix Wright, but that's about it.

I didn't say it was easy, but it needs to evolve to that point. If that means somebody has to spend a lot of money promoting and bundling a good controller add-on, so be it.

But, they really cannot be separate units any more. There's not a lot of logic behind owning two portable devices:

1. A device that can: Get on the internet, make phone calls, keep track of appointments, play music, play games, edit documents, tie it together with Bluetooth, and many other misc things with downloadable apps.

2. A device that can: play games a little better.

This is listed on Steam for coming out soon. I'm trying to summon up some enthusiasm but it doesn't seem to be happening.
