  • Finished Grandia 2

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>I think I didn't realize how frightening accurate I was when I said this game resembles Grandia 1 a lot toward the end. The part where they used the Granasaber is almost identical to when Justin gets the Spirit Sword.

It seems to be a Grandia tradition to make the last boss ridiculously easy. One thing I'm starting to get annoyed by recent games is that you shouldn't blow away a planet every round, especially if the spell/attack doesn't even do that much damage. I think I probably wiped out more of Silesia than Valmar ever did with all the casting of Meteor Strike in the final series of battles. Ba-Boom does very little damage for something that is supposed to look like a nuclear bomb blast.

Toward the end it seems like they're getting an extra dose of daily miracles. I could've swore the things they did to beat the Darkness didn't work when they tried it earlier way back on, oh, say, the Eye of Valmar and the Horn of Valmar.

And I still haven't figure out what the heck Tio is saying in her victory lines...

Grandia 2's bosses were incredibly easy but FF9 was a much bigger joke. besides Ozma, i was able to not attack for the first 20+ turns so Zidane can steal. it's either i have incredibly bad luck or the game really sucks because 20+ turns to get 3 or 4 successful steals is horrible, especially since i always have the skill equiped where it increases my chances.

the last boss was the easiest of all time, it took me 2 rounds to kill him because i knew there was no point in stealing. i actually got killed by a stupid Behemoth that did Meteor Counter twice before i got to cast a heal spell. i think that's the first time i ever game overed in a FF random battle. how can a last boss be easier than a random battle enemy and how can a last boss die before all my character got to go a second time? that's stupid.

<div style='font: 12pt Garamond, Modern; text-align: left; '>..."threat eliminated" and "you picked on the wrong people".

Grandia 2 was a fairly enjoyable game. I liked the story and characters much more than in Grandia 1. The battle upgrades were a lot easier to deal with (much easier than having to cast the same spell over and over a billion times to go up a rank in the first game), but was also much easier to abuse. There is really no difficulty whatsoever in completing the game. It was very pretty, the dungeons were really cool, but you sleepwalk through them. Battles are just time fillers. I also didn't like the way the Elena/MilleniaMilleniaMilleniaMilleniaMilleniaMilleniaMillenia thing was handled...they should have merged or something, not gone separate ways (and made MilleniaMilleniaMilleniaMilleniaMilleniaMilleniaMillenia a teacher...that was really bizarre and completely out of character)...they seemed to be dropping hints the whole time that MilleniaMilleniaMilleniaMilleniaMilleniaMilleniaMillenia was just Elena's repressed dark and flirtatious side to balance out the disgusting purity of her...they handled that situation pretty poorly...

Ryudo will always be one of the coolest heroes ever in my opinion though...I really liked him and Skye...they should have a sequel with just the two of em...the rest of the cast (except for Mareg...first time in a while I actually felt sad when a character in a game died) really sucked...</div>

<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>Well, you can just assign one guy keep on reviving him over and over again, though it's actually easier if you just take decoy off because Alhealer is more than enough to handle the spread out damage.

Aside from a very extremely unlucky draw when Eye of Valmar began with 4 Delta Bursts on the first turn (the first time, not the 2nd time at the end of game), most of the bosses are pretty trivial becasue of the instant cancels, but even without them they really don't do enough damage to be of a problem.

Actually, one of the mini bosses in the Birthplace of the Gods that does the hit everyone action-1 stuff was annoying when the action-1s start to pile up, until I realize Droplets of Life cancels out negative variable effects.

I don't think there was anything meaningful with the whole Elena and Millenia. I think the point of the lesson is that even after saving the world, you can still stuck with ghetto jobs. :)</div>
