<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>Since I decided to use the name of one of the elements for a character I've been writing about recently, I decided to look up my Xenogears Perfect Works and find out a little bit more on what they have to say on the Elements.
I find it interesting that the director says Kelvena was more or less a fan service character. No kidding! With a name like Cherubina in the Japanese version, and how her dress looks like angel wings, and that she talks in typical Belldandy-style (meticulously polite). I thought Square would've figured out no one was impressed with the symbolism behind Rinoa, seeing she's got a dog called Angela, her limit break is called Angel Wings, and she's got angel wings on her back. I mean, seriously, we can take a hint. I'm glad in the English version they changed her name to Kelvena, and that we can't see the generic Goddess-talk style in English, so we don't have deal with another see-through angel-reference character, as if there wasn't enough of them in Xenogears already!
Other interesting stuff I found about her was that there was supposed to be a reason to her eyes being closed all the time. Like Shaka in Saint Seiya, apparently her Ether is so powerful that she has to close her eyes at all times to contain this power (how is the two related, I've no clue). I believe she's Elly's roommate back when they're in Solaris Academy or whatever. Not that these things mattered anything related the game seeing they axed a lot of the stuff they originally planned. There's a sketch of Kelvena when she opened her eyes and she looked really evil. I guess maybe she's supposed to be more related to Elly than the game shows? Both are supposed to be incredibly Ether users.
Not much info is additional info is revealed about Tolone and Dominia. Seraphita is very, very, very, very stupid. She talks in the generic cutesy "Seraphita is very dumb" style. I think if anyone is a fan service character, it'd be Seraphita.
Oh yeah, Tolone and Seraphita explains military terms is *really* cool. Basically Tolone and Seraphita took over the Yggdrasil and Tolone is giving a tour on the various military aspects of the Yggdrasils and various other stuff like Sun Tzu's art of war, while Seraphita is just being herself, stupid and talking about random things, and getting Tolone mad as usual. :)</div>
