Just week one sales, but usually those are your strongest sales. -_-
Famitsu: The Wonderful 101: 6,663
Media Create: The Wonderful 101: 5,258
These are estimates from Famitsu and Media Create.
In comparison other week-1 openings in Japan from Platinum Games:
Metal Gear Rising: 335,791 (PS3) (No 360 release in japan)
Bayonetta: 138,430 (PS3) + 66,211 (360) = 204,641
Vanquish: 51,705 (PS3) + 11,798 (360) = 63,503
Anarchy Reigns: 21,199 (PS3) + 4,170 (360) = 25,369
Infinite Space: 40,266 (DS)
Mad World: 4,651 (Wii)
Hopefully it does better Sept 15th when it comes out in NA, it LOOKS like a fun game, I'd certainly buy it if it wasn't for the Wii U.

This game wasn't even on my radar. Superheroes + Platnum games.
I've owned one game from Platnum before, MadWorld, and I didn't like it at all.
Bayonetta 2 looks like it may be interesting though.

I need to be convinced on this one. Felt gimmicky when I played it at Comic Con last year

Having played the demo a few times, the first time I played it was somewhat confusing. When I played through again, the game just clicked for me and I got it. It went at that point to a game that I would pick up eventually to a day one purchace for me (in fact my copy is already paid off!) The Wonderful is a frentic, fast paced action game, and I can already tell that I am going to love playing through it over and over trying to earn a pure platinum rank on every mission. There is a lot of depth to the battle/combo system, and I can tell I have just scratched the surface. I present as an example.

During the demo, I found the touch screen extremely responsive and never had any problem drawing whatever shape I needed for the weapons I had available. If you don't want to use the touch screen, you can use the right analog stick as well. I also love the colorful look of the game. Honestly it looks like what I imagined video games looking like when I was a kid, and I love it!
If you do have a WiiU I really hope you will check it out, at least try the demo because it is just fun.

I couldn't get the embed to work right! What do you have to do?

The youtube URL can screw with the tag. If there's any trash in the URL code it won't embed properly. I've found the best way to link the URL if you're having issues is to go into the uploader's profile and go to the movie from there, getting the cleanest link possibly.

I don't think Sine has updated the board's url youtube thingy
So instead of
http://youtu.be/otiDIgJWJe0 you have to use

I fixed it to support https and slightly different domains, but it still needs to say /watch?v= in the URL.

IGN posted an interview with one of Platinum Games head designers, Hideki Kamiya who is expressing interest in bringing the original Bayonetta over to Wii U, as well as having the studio become a second party Nintendo developer. It is known that Kamiya also wishes to make the next Star Fox game.

Ha... deep down, you know properties like Bayonetta and Wii U don't mix. Yeah, fine, it's not a console exclusively for kids, but c'mon. Let's not fool ourselves.

I just know that if it wasn't for Nintendo, we wouldn't even be GETTING Bayonetta 2, and that is good enough for me ^_^

Yeah, all 5 of you that buy it. :p
I kid, and it is cool that it exists, even if not a whole lot of people will ever play it.

Gamers like me probably won't be looking at Bayonetta as a priority purchase, that's true; but, Bayonetta 2 is primarily meant to market towards a newer audience. As the first game has a cult following, there's guaranteed to be a number of new Wii U adopters as a result of this game being exclusively released on Wii U. This is why Nintendo picked up the franchise.

Well, shit, if Hideki is going to personally sit down and give me a thumbs up, then I'm playing this game.

OK So I have played through the first three missions so far, and I have to say, I am in LOVE with this game! I can't stop smiling while I play it, from the crazy, over the top action, the deep combo system that I am still learning to master (I still haven't unlocked Wonder White or Wonder Black yet) to the great comedy and just the overall character design and backstory. This game has just continued to amaze me, and I can't wait till I have my next day off because I am going to sit down and REALLY dive into this.
At the start you have three difficulties available, Normal, Easy, and Very Easy. From what I understand, you can then unlock two more difficulties, Hard and Hard 101%. Even playing on Very Easy for my first play through to learn the mechanics, I have still had some challenging battles. I am finding some shapes easier to draw on the gamepad, and some easier to do with the right analog stick. For example, drawing the circle for the fist or the stick with a ball on the end for the hammer, I prefer to use the screen, but for the sword, whip and gun I use the right stick. The upgrade system is also very in depth, and there are a lot of different upgrades you can get from different unite morphs to give you other combat abilites, such as the ability to jump above an enemy and turn into a giant tombstone and drop on them, to the spring that lets you dodge, and the pudding that lets you reflect some attacks. There are also equip slots that you can put on other abilities like one that I have that causes you to leave a mine when you activate the spring dodge. There are also skills that affect the Wonder Liner you use to draw shapes that lets you draw faster with the analog stick or causes it to cause damage if you draw it through an enemy while you form a shape.
Overall this game is just amazing me, and I hope, if you have a Wii U (which I understand not many here do) please, please, PLEASE take the time to play this. The demo doesn't do the greatness of this game justice.

Mac, Seek and I will be the only other ones here to ever give this game a chance (ie. play it for more than 10 seconds and not throw the controller away in disgust). Others ain't gonna get a Wii U within the next couple of years
I personally am gonna wait. I'm picking up my system on Friday (Wind Waker one) and have too much to play on it already. And when I played this at Comic Con last year, it was a little too gimmicky for my good so I ain't gonna pay full price for it. Maybe Black Friday it'll go on sale and I'll get it
