Holy crap. With the last Gen starting off so slow (maybe everyone had Wii's already and didnt want a more powerful machine?) I'm shocked at the selling power of PS4/Xbox One this year. I'm happy to see it, it looks like gaming will be strong for the years to come. I'm not happy about a $500 Steam machine price point, though...

Oh i still only buy PC games at this point, but strong console sales can only help the whole gaming world, i suppose. Now that i'm living with my GF, though, it would be nice to have some games I can play on the main TV for her to watch and help interact with. She's totally cool hanging out on the couch watching me play, and she has a 360 that we have hooked up, but we dont own much that I want to play on it. A Steam machine would help make things a little more social, and let me play my huge library, but not at that price point when I have my own perfectly functional 'steam machine' computer in the other room.

Alot of video cards nowadays have an hdmi out on them. I run an hdmi from my PC to my TV and game on it like that. You should try it. :)

Yeah i probably will do that one day. I feel bad when i spend 6 hours (some weekend days) on the computer playing games that arent very easy for her to watch/backseat driver play, too. She pulled up a chair and basically watched me play the new Bioshock episode, but it would be a much better compromise of our time if we could play on the couch, not my computer desk, where she could feel like we were doing it 'together', if that makes any sense.

I'm glad I don't do that Black Friday BS any more. Opening on Thanksgiving? Fuck that. Trampling people just to save $20? Fuck that, too.

That recent South Park episode wasn't too far off the mark.

Try Black Friday in Buffalo, it's awesome. None of this shit, we enjoy the hell of it every year
