Sony sells all of its Square Enix stock

Interesting development. I wonder if this will impact Square's business strategy going forward? Square was a second party of Sony from the releases of Super Mario RPG and Treasure Hunter G in 1996 until around the time of its merger with Enix in 2003; although since then it has been a very strong supporter of Nintendo's handhelds - releasing numerous remakes and original games.

There is no reason from Sony for the sale, but Sony has been on life support recently, selling off billions of dollars in assets at strategic times to keep itself in the black. I am guessing they have not seen much value in their Square Enix investment lately considering that their sway seems to have been minimal in the company over the last 10 years, and Square Enix shares are not bringing in much money anymore; I don't know. It could just be a simple "we need this $47,000,000" in order to stay in the black.

Wouldn't you need like 50 cartridges for that to work?

Close! The answer is actually a mere 42 cartridges 32MB in size. Probably 3-4 of those just for the ending FMV alone =P

If I could be serious for a moment though - Somehow Capcom managed to fit both CDs of Resident Evil 2 on a single 64 MB cartridge with a higher screen resolution and extra content not included in the original. Although due to compression, the FMV and certain backgrounds took a hit, but the game actually came out surprisingly well. -

Now Square! Make the N64 port happen! Make my 18 year old dream come true!
