I ran across the game Pier Solar and the Great Architects when flipping through games on the PlayStation store. The game grew out of an gaming forum called Eidolon's Inn that was devoted to Sega console gaming. Makes me think of that RPG that Sine was talking about making years ago "Magus Dawn". Anyway, the game was released after years of development for the Megadrive/Genesis by "Watermelon Games" and an HD version has been recently released for modern consoles & PC.

Has anyone played it? It looks very promising.

I am a bit into it on my Wii U and only my lack of time has kept me from going further. It is designed with the feel of RPG's of that era, including some of their drawbacks, but is overall a very fun game, and I have liked the story so far. Worth checking out in my book.
