MMX4 is generally thought of as the best X game and you could argue the best modern Megaman game. For Megaman X Dive, their thought process goes like: X4's great --> X4 has Zero and Iris --> we need 10 versions of Zero and Iris. So despite being the rather ridiculous idea of a Megaman game on mobile it seems to be still doing well enough to continue going, and I guess all the Iris and Zero reskins pay for the development cost anyway. Now if you're Inticreates, the thought logic goes: X4's great -> Iris dies in X4 -> need more girls dying in our game. Even by Gunvolt standards, the body count for female character is insanely high in this game. Since the whole Mytyl begging the protagonist to kill her in iX was so touching they did the same thing again with future Lola. Oh yeah except it was never actually good. Lola's roughly equivalent of Roll and it's roughly like after vacuuming for thousands of years she got tired of vacuuming and launched an elaborate plan to destroy the world to force people to kill her because she cannot self terminate due to her programming.
And since there has always been a significant female character dying in a Gunvolt game iX2 decided to go with 3 because 1 just isn't enough. Null basically blew herself up because you need a teleporter to get the boss room and the existing one was broken and although people teleport everywhere in a Megaman game apparently now you need a significant female character to blow herself up to fix the teleporter. Finally Kohaku, who is relatively irrelevant damsel in distress who you're supposed to rescue for reasons, could end up getting possessed by future Lola and started doing unspeakably nasty things that cannot be shown on the screen because stuff like destroying the world or mind controlling its entire population just doesn't cut it for evil anymore. I don't even get why Inticreates always acts like there are these evil conspiracy around the Muses because by definition any of the Muse (Mytyl, Lumen, future Lola) can destroy the Gunvolt universe if they just think about it. Gunvolt 2's final battle where the 3 Muses watches Copen fighting Gunvolt actually feels like the fate of the world depends on this battle, not because any of the characters are remotely a threat to a Muse but that if the fight didn't go the way the Muses wanted, Mytyl may decide that the Gunvolt universe no longer has a right to exist.
Well, there's also Gunvolt 3 coming soon. Maybe Lumen will find a way to die multiple times in the span of one game. I mean technically she died for good in Gunvolt 2 but of course the cover girl of the series isn't going away like that.
