  • This would kick so much ass. I can only think of one I would want more.....PDS

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>SRPG is already a small market relative to, say, RPG, and it's even smaller in America. If it's enough to sell based on word of mouth from the 5000 or however many copies of PDS/Shining Force 3 that actually made it over here for the Saturn than you wouldn't need things like advertising anymore. Sega will have a hard time convincing Americans why they should even care about two games that are relics of a system that was dead before it got anywhere. I can't imagine any of the big stores like CompUSA, Best Buy, and so on actually carrying this consider how few games such stores actually carry, so it'd be relegated to small stores like Babbages/EB. It's true that true gamers probably go there to look for more exotic titles, but I really can't think of any game that is a top seller just based on sales from EB-type stores. I know Victor Ireland claim they sell like 500,000 copies of Lunar by preorder in EB/Babbages and 5 million in the next two months or something, but I mean... Zelda, The Ocarina of Time, was talking about how it's 500,000 preorder is unprecedented in America...

Then again, Sega's not known to make the best business decisions, and if they're stupid enough to port these two games over, that'd be good news for the gamers at the expense of the company. I'm not sure if that's really a good thing... you can only be in the debt for so long.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt "Arial bold", Modern; text-align: left; '>I always thought those two games would be extremely well received. They're quite popular and sell for ridiculous amounts on Ebay. Same with House of the Dead, which would be another beautiful port</div>

<div style='font: 9pt Arial, Modern; text-align: left; '>I'm going to have to agree with Don about SF III. I own the Saturn version, and it's nothing particularly special. I don't know about PDS, though.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>They were stupid enough to release those 2 games for the Saturn after they declared it dead. I would like more companies to be as stupid sometimes. But seriuosly, I think they are looking to squeeze out some profits from some quicke ports of some well-known names. Oh, and speaking of Lunar, that "relic of a system that was dead before it got anywhere" sold quite well didn't? :)</div>

<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>Aside from the improbable 500K preorders from Victor Ireland. I know the sales of the Lunar remixes are insignificant in Japan and it's hard for me to imagine that if it didn't do well in the land of RPG, where there's actually a following of the Saturn > 1% of the market, that it can suddenly do much better in America, or for that matter, better than Japan at all. Certainly don't recall Lunar's name showed up in any top X0 overall charts.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt Arial, Modern; text-align: left; '>Well, doing House of the Dead would not work in big sales, it got usurped by HotD2 on Dreamcast ages back. Ports would be best for unseen or low-distribution saturn games.</div>
