<div style='font: bold 12pt "Comic Sans MS", Modern; text-align: left; '>I beat it for the first time in 1:30, beat it 4 times total to power up all my guys full. About a total of 4-5 hours game play. got all the vs. Characters.... And this is my second day of renting it.... WOW.... thank god I did just that, RENT it.... The Vs. mode is pretty cool, pretty much identical to Thrill Kill for the PSX. The game coulda been longer.... no wait, IT SHOULD HAVE been longer.... fucking fighting games. I wish someone would just make one so rediculously long that I'd actually get tired of playing it before beating it so I could pick it up later.... bah....</div>
Oh, and PS....

<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>Soul Caliber is probably one of the worst fighting engines ever made. It's sole selling point, which the reviewers fell for is it's great graphics. You should stop letting the magazines choose which games you should like, they're not very good at it.</div>
Wouldn't it have been better to say that in the fist place?

<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>In it's essence it's a button-masher. I've never really liked that in any fighting game.
I'll admit I don't really hate it as much as it sounds from my previous post. It is fun to play when the other person doesn't play fighting games regularly. But when I'm playing against people who play fighters a lot, I'd rather play a game where experience helps.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>Well, it could be more technical than I give it credit for, and I did find some really cool combos with a couple characters. But when every character has 3-strings A,A,A and B,B,B and C,C,C, it's hard for me not to call it a button-masher.</div>

If you want to say that about MGS2; go for it.

<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>It may be true. I'm sure it's graphics are really important in the hype it's getting and deservedly so. There is a slight difference though. Chances are better for MGS2 to have better gameplay since MGS1 was a game with great gameplay. Soul Caliber was a sequel to Soul Edge. I actually own Soul Edge, but I don't remember anyone ranting and raving about the gameplay of that fighter.
Either way, I'm definately falling for the MGS2 hype. And in the rare occurence that after I buy MGS2 it turns out god-awful, oh well, at least I made up my mind for myself.</div>

Tekken is pretty similar to SC...

by Darx
<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>You're right Tekken can be a button-masher too. I've actually played against people who don't look at the screen at all when they play. As far as I know, the only people I've seen button mash successfully, have been Eddy users in Tekken 3 or Baek in Tekken 2. Tekken's been around in the arcades long enough that I've seen a lot of different things. Tekken is more limiting when it comes to movement, but I was thinking more along the lines of actual moves and combos. And from what I've seen, and I'm no expert at SC, Tekken's combos are more complex. Maybe SC is just as complex, but I didn't see any of it from it's short run at the arcades.
SC does have some really good points though. 8-way run is awesome, and I hear that the parry system is something worth learning...
Man, I'm starting to regret ripping on SC, people were real quick to defend it.</div>

<div style='font: 14pt "Times New Roman", Modern; text-align: left; '>If you want a complex combo try Ivy's Summon Suffering. That one's an absolute bitch to pull off. But IMO Tekken's got too many dial-a-combos.</div>

While true, it's a rather intrinsic part of the game, and one of the things that will make it so cool to play. Good graphics are fun to look at, I have no qualms admitting that.</div>
