  • 3DS Smash Bros demo out

  • Because playing them is not enough, we have to bitch about them daily, too. We had a Gameplay forum, but it got replaced by GameFAQs.

"Select Club Nintendo Platinum members will have received four download codes for the #SmashBros for #3DS demo. Check your emails!"

I got a code from a buddy.

Seems fun!

I didn't get a code, but a co-worker did. I'll redeem it this weekend. I look forward to playing it, finally on handheld!

They're "rewarding" Platinum Club members with a demo a week early after ripping us off for the yearly reward? F-them, I won't use the code even if I see it, I'll wait the extra week.

I played around with it for a bit last night. There's one level that can be played solely in 2 minute matches, easy difficulty, and a few playable characters including The Villager, Megaman, Mario, Link, and Pikachu. The battles have a lot of items available.

Graphically, this game looks much more lively in 3D. While the environments, effects, and such look like past Smash games, the characters have gone the cell shading route, and this works well for 3D. I got a super smash, but have NO idea how to use it. Although the CPUs have no problem. There's also Soul Edge from the Soul Calibur series in the demo.

Also, apparently the demo is wrecking 3DSs.

I'm trying to sell my codes but I guess as a Platinum member from the very beginning, I don't get any

I had a chance to play some 4 player local multiplayer yesterday over my lunch hour.

Yeah, I realize jus how much I suck at the game compared to other human players. I didn't do terrible, but I didn't do well either. After 20 kills on my side, the top player in the group had racked up 50. The other players were also both ahead of me, but under 30 points.... In short, I suck =P

Of course, the winning player played Link every single game, whereas the rest of us were playing mainly the new characters - so it might just be that he is really good at Link and no one else.

The biggest issue was there was occasional slowdown linked to the connection. Either there are some bugs in the connection still to work out, or one of us had a crap 3DS. I am guessing, considering how independent the demo is, that it is based on a much older revision of the game. Time will tell.
