I really like Bernie and I hope he does well. That being said, I know that the socialist "political revolution" he hopes for won't happen any time soon (I think he knows this too). Americans are afraid of socialism because afraid of wealth redistribution in particular. White Americans are afraid their money will be taken and given to blacks and hispanics whom they don't trust. This creates a solidarity between middle & working class white with wealthy elites that doesn't exist in most other countries. I think other aspects of Bernie's platform are quite popular: cracking down on Wall Street, electoral and campaign finance reform, free university education, etc.

If he makes it far enough he can help shape what the eventual nominee's platform is built around.

I am well aware of the odds against Bernie's winning; were he actually to beat Hillary in the primaries, the GOP would take the fact that he actually is socialist, and you would never hear the end of the ridiculous Nazi comparisons - we all know Murdoch and Ailes are not above this sort of thing.

Nevertheless Anarky is right; if he gains sufficient support, then re-regulating Wall Street and reinstating Glass-Steagal will be on the table no matter who wins the Democratic primary, and these are crucial things.

Besides which - I cannot find it in myself to vote for the Clintons or support them again, no matter what. I will not vote for Hillary if she gains the nomination; nor will I vote for her rivals in the GOP, who all support Wall Street other than Rand Paul - and the Pauls are unpalatable to me for other reasons. Bill and Hillary are involved in a truckload of absolutely murderous behavior behind the scenes. Much as I know my credibility here is not high, I would urge everyone to consider the simple fact that Hillary's repeated Goldman Sachs paydays cast very, very serious doubt on her morality, as I would hope everyone knows how fully Goldman defrauded the country in 2008. If people have not read Taibbi's most excellent expose on them, I urge everyone to read at least a few paragraphs. I met cracked-out gangbangers in the hoods of Los Angeles who did less to steal and defraud people than Goldman does.

(By the way, Anarky - nice Juggs pic there. As a committed Leaguer I don't DOTA but I do appreciate the joke, in spades.)

I think that Nazi comparisons could be easily ridiculed by the fact that he is as Jewish-American as they come.

I am aware though that Republicans completely lack the ability to separate Socialism from National Socialism - where one involves the public ownership of the means of production and an elimination of class division; and the other was a branch of militant fascism which viewed Aryans as the master race, which sat atop a rigid class hierarchy based on genetic principals.

As someone who doesn't live in your country, I can't imagine anyone in either party even coming close to Hillary at this point. It ain't by accident that all the Republicans and Fox News are hyper-focused on her. She's a rock star entering the race, it's really hers to lose as far as I can see. MAYBE there's enough gender discrimination to keep her out, but don't forget who loved the Clinton's and especially Hillary: minorities and women. They come out to vote and it may be enough to sway it, even if Bush and Rubio can get some momentum.

You do that. :)

And national is good too! We all love our nation, right?!? There's nothing wrong with nationalism!!!

Therefore, it's the socialism that makes them the nazis!
