Scott Walker: Canadian border wall "legitimate issue"

Referencing a Walker foreign policy speech Friday in which the Republican presidential candidate said securing the borders was a top priority, Todd asked why no one's talking about building a wall on the United States' northern border to protect from terrorists gaining entry.

Walker said he recently heard just such an idea from law enforcement officials during a town-hall meeting in New Hampshire, which shares a 58-mile border with Canada and has one border crossing.

"So that is a legitimate issue for us to look at," Walker said.

This joker is the twice elected governor of my state (Wisconsin), a supposedly "Blue" state. He's crashing and burning in his Republican presidential campaign.

Also a Mexican that resourceful (having a boat capable of the journey or the money to pay for it) probably could get into the country legally or at the very least illegally in a much less dumb way.

- Port/Ocean security is pretty serious along the western coast - I've been stopped by the coast guard plenty.

Did you think I was saying they row their way from Mexico to Canada? Obviously they have boats that run on some kind of fuel. People from other countries try to sneak into USA too and if you can get to USA you might as well try to get to Canada first precisely because the Canadian/USA border is relatively unpatrolled. It's got to be a lot shorter to go by sea from Mexico than pretty much any other country near by trying to sneak into USA. Yes they patrol and stuff but the ocean is a big place. Every now and then you'd hear news like a guy gets lost somewhere near the coast in his boat and they'll send people to look for him and often they'd never be able to find this guy and that's when they've some idea of where a guy is. I'm sure they catch a good deal of people but they also miss some too. Of course it's just not that big of a deal in terms of magnitude compared to the southern border but it's something someone might potentially care about.

Where in that link is there anything about folks boating from Mexico to cross into the US from Canada...? Did you read the link you posted? Where did I say row boats? That's a lot of ground to cover in any boat. Migrants used to use shipping containers, but that's been pretty much negated in NA. The ocean is covered effectively through satellite imagery. They can even spot drug dealers trying to use makeshift subs now.

If you do want to sneak into the US from somewhere like the middle east, yes, you would probably fly into Canada rather than into Mexico. That's kind of what the article is dealing with. There was some folks from Haiti that boated to Canada...but that was what? 100 people and unusual.

Your image of Mexican border jumpers taking a 2000+ nautical mile pleasure cruise across protected waters to not only sneak into Canada, but then into the US (why leave Canada?!?) strikes me as fantasy and funny.

Truly. Also, as everyone knows, secular socialism is the same as radical Islamic Fundamentalism. So, you know, terrorism and stuff.

One good thing is that Walker's campaign totally tanked about the time he said this. Unfortunately, his support largely was transferred to Donal Trump. Still no faith in the sanity of the average GOP primary voter.

Save for Bush I don't even understand how these people are even serious options/contenders.

And I could only see Bush because of name recognition and because he seems to be the least crazy of the bunch.

Let's be real, we're all thinking the same thing, once the Trump bubble pops, and it's going to pop, Bush is going to be the front runner and GOP Candidate. I can't imagine any scenario in which it isn't going to be Bush.

The primary process is just so fucked that anything is possible. If Trump gets through the first several primaries that are likely going to swing to other candidates, he'll get all those states where the extremists that are giving him good numbers in the first place reside. Congress in one of the things they ACTUALLY managed to push through in the last four years tried to change the process so you wouldn't have to have the resources of Romney or Trump to win the nomination, but from what I've heard have actually made it easier for Trump types.

We live in a country where McCain after doing so poorly some how won the nomination and then fucking selected Sarah Palin of all people as his running mate.

We're literally talking about the part of the country with a vocal portion that thinks Obama is a socialist, compared him to Hitler, and cheered at the idea of letting poor sick people die. They elect (and I think re-elect?) people who think women have magical vaginas that somehow resist pregnancy if the woman is legitimately raped.
