Well, hooked up online for some Phantasy Star Online...

gotta work soon, so here's a quick breakdown of what happened. I got online, met some guys in the ship lobby and we hooked up for an adventure. BTW, interacting is half the fun in this game.

Anyway, these guys where several levels higher than me. I'm level 4 and they were levels 11 and 19. We went on this adventure and went to several places I hadn't gone in my single player game. We ended up in this cave and fought this HUGE as fucking dragon. I mean, this dragon was literally about 20 times my size (and your PSO characters ain't small) The other fights were sweet, but this fight was just the fucking bomb. We were all hunters, so we all surrounded this big boy and started whipping out these badass sword combos on his ass. Then the dragon would leap into the air and dive underground. My ass got killed because he stomped my puny little level 4 character after lighting me up with a fireball...

Basically, this is the game of the year so far (yeah I know it's just February ya smart-eleck punks). If it came out last year, it woulda been the game of that year. Yeah, this is better than NFL2k1 online. And yeah, it way better than Diablo2 online.


Bottom line: Get up and get it now.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>I played the single player for several hours and had fun once I got used to how the game mechanics worked out. This game has an awesome battle system, btw.

But the TRUE power of the game can't be experienced unless you get online. I mean, when you're offline, you're like "ah ok, this is pretty sweet". When you get online with a group of cool guys, you're like "Ah FUCK YEAH, LET'S TAKE THESE BITCHES TO FUCKIN' LUNCH!". When a group of you guys get together and start whipping out combos and techniques against monster all at the same time...a feeling of joy creeps up on you. It's hard to explain. :)

Just the walking around, talking, trading items, etc is fun in and of itself. But then you go to battle and the comraderie goes to a new level.

It's kinda the same as when playing games like NFL2k1 and Q3A offline vs online too.</div>

<div style='font: 12pt Modern; text-align: left; '>I guess it could very well be a single player RPG that could be played online, but then I tend to think games with the word 'online' on them tends to be more like persistent online worlds, i.e. MMORPG like Asheron's Call and EverQuest. Though there is nothing wrong with a short game, online games should be persistent... otherwise pretty soon no one will be playing online anymore because everyone will be done.</div>
