Well after playing through several worlds I will write my own thoughts on the game:

Probably the most notable thing about this game for me was that it feels very much like a classic Mario title; but not the feeling I get playing them now; but rather the feeling I got playing them as a child. It is a game that very much captures much of the platformer elements of previous Nintendo games. The game feels very much like Mario, but more than Mario - like there is a classic Rare feeling in there too (Donkey Kong Country, and Banjo Kazooie/Conker) along with some HAL (Kirby Superstar and Smash Brothers).

Compared to the first; well, it does a lot of things way better:
* Difficulty level feels much better - more along the lines of Mario 3, NSMB Wii, and Mario World. The first one was way too easy
* The levels are MUCH more interesting. They don't feel all similar and like islands. Many of them feel different like you're on the surface of a world; there's a lot of diversity, and WAY more things to do than in any game Nintendo has ever released.
* 2D platforming levels are a lot of fun; they twist around and play in very creative ways.
* There's always something new; this isn't how I felt with the first game.
* MUCH more like an adventure through to distant lands than previous Mario games; this game finally beats Mario 3 in that respect.
* More atmospheric than the first game (and the first one was very atmospheric in locations)
* Music is perhaps the best Nintendo has ever had, only Brawl contends here.

Overall, it is just a much better package than anything the Mario series has seen yet. This game is probably about the same to Mario Galaxy as Mario 3 was to Mario 1.

I am not sure how Nintendo will top this one before they release the Wii's successor (I am guessing Christmas next year. They probably should have made this one the big Christmas title. Though its first week sales in North America and Japan are about 300K higher than the first game according to VGchartz.

The following video gives a very nice view of what the game is all about. This is an incredible looking sequel, it makes the first one almost look a demo. From this video, what I gather is that it has all the goods from the first one, except there's a ton of stuff added to make it WAAAAY more diverse and interesting. It looks quite a bit more cool than the first one. The video will explain:

* Gamespot gave Mario Galaxy 2 a Perfect 10, this is up from the 9.5 they gave Mario Galaxy 1.
* IGN also gave Mario Galaxy a perfect 10, which is up from the 9.7 they gave the first one.

Due to moving, I haven't been able to play this as much as I would like to; but I am having a lot of fun with it so far.

One thing they added which I really like are the sonic-like fun spots (you know loops and stuff where you can grab a lot of rings); lots of stuff like that in this game.

I picked up this game and played like two levels so far.

I, for some reason, felt like I was really fatigued with Mario Galaxy going into playing this. I heard all the raving reviews and figured that I should probably pick this up. The two levels I played were really fun and I am excited to play more.
