<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>So last night a friend of mine over AIM was trying to send me a picture or something over direct connect. Unfortunately the gAIM software I use is uber-ghey and won't go around my linksys router at all even when I enable port forwarding. So now I get smrt and install my old FlashFXP and BPFTP software from like 2002. Once I get that all working I give her the link to my address and bam! My connection drops, so I think it has something to do with my cable so I shut down, but when I restart and try to get back into windows...ok here is where I will get very specific...after the Windows XP boot screen comes up, I see the mouse for just a split second before my HD sounds like it just rebooted and my monitor goes into sleep mode and won't wake up. WISKEY TANGO FOXTROT!!!! What the fuck is going on here? So I've booted into safe mode, run check disk, wake up this morning (since it's a 120GB drive) and find out now I can no longer boot to safe mode to run norton. What the fuck do I have to do? What happened? It sounds like a virus but one I've never encounter before...So I'm thinking it's the video card not getting enough power, so I yank the drive that is connected to it off the dongle so it has direct connection to the PSU. Now I'm sitting on my mom's PC and she's getting a live update...WHERE THE FUCK WHERE YOU AT 1AM NORTON YOU PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT! The reason I did the power thing before was because when XP would boot in safemode it would always stop at the agp440.sys file, so I thought it had something to do with my video, hence the reason also my monitor would shut down, but as for the boot sounds on the drive, who the fuck knows...Same damn thing happens, XP boot screen, see mouse for split second, then monitor goes dead, HD reboots, system doesn't do shit.

System specs
P4 2.4C
ABit IS7-E Mainboard
512MB PC 2700 DDR Ram
BFG GeForce 6800 OC Standard board
Western Digital 120GB 7200 RPM drive w/ 8MB cache

Any, all help will be appreciated. I've got a dell home edition disk that I think I can get into repair from. I've encountered something similiar like this before when I installed SP2 on a pirated copy. I changed the logon.exe to the logon.bak file and the logon.bak file to logon.exe and it worked. Oh, when I booted into safe mode I removed all software that I had installed recently and disabled logonui.exe from booting and stylexp.exe from booting because I thought it might have been a bad logon screen that was causing the issue, but it turns out it's something else.

What can I do? Anyone. Kupek I see you! HELP ME PLEASE!!!! AIM Guyinthecorner82, I'll be on all day and hitting up every tech forum I can. Off to Tweak3D....</div>

<div style='font: 10pt Arial; text-align: left; '>No damn XP disc. Left it in Cape Girardeau, which is now covered in 6 inches of snow. Earliest I'll be able to get down there for anything would be on friday if this girl my mom knows needs a ride since she can't drive in the snow for shit. I'm going to see if my buddy jason has one or can pirate a copy off the net (which is legal since I own one to begin with) and then all I have to do is get around the activation crack. I could back up a lot of stuff on my dad's rig now, but I need a spindle of CD's. Guess what I'll be doing tomorrow? Half way done with a virus scan on my dad's computer right now. Physically removed the drive and now I'm running norton and I've got 2 spyware programs that'll run after that then check disk and defrag. It has not gotten to the windows directory yet because that's the last damn thing norton checks. There is nothing that I'll miss to terribly, but all of the anime on the drive I can't get too, but it's not like I watch it that much anyway. I'm just mostly worried about all of my word documents. Everything else can be reinstalled, but I need my word documents. Anyone know how to get past the lock microsoft puts on the administrator directory when you go into documents and settings then you select a user and there is your my documents folder? Because you can't get to it if you didn't boot xp. I need to get to that directory.</div>

<div style='font: 10pt ; text-align: left; '>1) Try to get some sort of access to the kind of information msconfig.exe would report about startup processes. Like if you run msconfig.exe on a working machine and head over to the Startup tab it shows you all the processes that load on startup. Google each one or go to www.processlibrary.com to see if any are viruses. I'm not sure where this startup process information is stored stored though, it may be in the registry. If you can boot to safe mode again this is something to check.

2) There's a program called Directory Snoop that you can download from Briggs Softworks. I use it a lot to do general searches on my hard drive for deleted files, stuff like that, because it indexes the entire drive file system and you can do searches, filters, etc. It doesn't seem to have much respect for Windows' privilege stuff, so it may be able to pull up your Word docs.</div>
