If this is the sort of thing that goes on internally with the 49ers, it's no wonder why they've sucked for the past few years:

My thoughts on it? I wasn't offended personally, but the jokes were horrible and all of the stereotyping was unnecessary. The whole thing just smacks of bad judgement, if you ask me.

I just have to think this stuff comes about as a result of the tendency in our society to treat star athletes like they're above the law...

I just watched all the clips. The article makes it sound like he's doing blackface while beating up homosexuals, but the clips are really tame. You can see far racier (and much funnier) sketches on the Chapelle Show.

Yes, because the athletes made the video themselves.

I have no energy to argue further tonight and thus you may consider me withered by your sarcastic energies. (shrivels)

Regardless of how it's phrased, it's a valid point. The athletes themselves weren't responsible, so can the "spoiled athletes" line.

Tort, your sarcasm/cynicism is starting to get on my nerves...as far as the athletes go, however, I agree, I drew an unfair conclusion in this case. If the athletes had nothing to do with it, I'll leave them out of it.

I know it's gonna suck (like the 49ers are really gonna do something out there), but I just gotta see it anyway.

Does anybody have a sense of humor anymore?

What's a better way to diffuse a situation...to laugh at yourself, or call a lawyer everytime someone makes fun of you...

I'm just sick of every little group out there having their own little representative acronym with a team of lawyers behind it. It was a silly little video shown to players right after they were shown a video on how to behave properly in public...as a goddam joke...

If a lesbian told a lesbian joke it'd be okay, if a china dude told a china dude joke it'd be ok...why is malice only assumed when a joke is made outside of someone's...whatever...race, creed, sexual orientation?

Just drives me bonkers...am I the only one that realizes that assuming racism is, well...racist? Just because I'm white and tell a joke about a black dude, you assume I'm racist....because I'm white? Isn't that racist?

People really need to relax and fucking laugh at the ridiculousness of themselves...

EsquE, there are boundries within the frame of the workplace, including and especially in a public avenue like the atheltic world. Granted, most of the nation has become too PC, but it's not like life in the 50s, going in the opposite direction, was any better.

I remember some of our installer techs getting all pissy about the HR video about discrimination. Yes, HR wants you to follow the letter of the law to prevent any chance of lawsuits, etc., but it's mostly about good judgement of the situation. Everybody had a good laugh at the (manditory) discrimination video, mostly because of the seemly mundane situations, but it's basically there to demonistrate the potential extremes and boundaries of discriminatory law.
